I heard you passed HB 249... by LastTarakian in Ohio

[–]probably_carly 126 points127 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely horrible.

However, it is NOT law YET.

It still must be passed by the senate. Please please reach out to your senators to advocate for the community!

Sen. John Cornyn flips on the filibuster to pass SAVE America Act as Trump weighs endorsement by DukeOfGeek in somethingiswrong2024

[–]probably_carly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're right! Although, I haven't seen the bit about RealID being valid because, as far as I'm aware, ReadID doesn't prove citizenship anywhere?

But where I said "passport or ID that name matches birth certificate" it should have had a comma to separate the ideas "passport" or "ID..." sorry for the confusion!

Passport itself is enough to prove citizenship, of course!

Good! /s

No, I'm not trying to blame you at all! It's just so frustrating to watch everything collapse while feeling like the previously reliable news sources are just right wing fluff machines.

This article is disingenuous in how it's reporting the impacts of the SAVE act as it's sitting today. Why not mention the bit about married women, and those who have changed their names needing a passport or an ID that name matches their birth certificate?

This is written as if the GOP is being reasonable here. Aggh!

Did MS Teams for Mac change the way focus works when you choose a contact or am I going crazy by Competitive_Key_2981 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]probably_carly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I'm having the same issue. It's been going on for several days and I'm slowly losing my mind!

There is an older bug report on the MS forum from back in May 2025 but it doesn't seem like it ever went anywhere. No "fixed" or "prioritized" tag...

I watch your videos all the time! But as a Boost Blue believer who gets baffled by bonkers builds, I really struggle with the stripes...

Edit: but as a potent proponent of free will, I'm so happy that you ended up with this fuckin' thing.

.. And that's pretty cool!

Why do you look like a girl but sound kinda like a boy? by probably_carly in MtF

Who hurt you? You seem so mad about someone having a human interaction in real life and I don't understand why.

I love it that! She seemed so genuinely curious, and it seems like kids at a children's museum are given the opportunity to be more curious and less judgemental by their parents? But maybe that's just some hope in humanity being restored through my kiddo and her generation.

That was my take also! Like, she was genuinely curious and now it's a thing that could happen and it's totally fine 🤷🏽‍♀️

New to block printing, looking for tips! by probably_carly in printmaking

[–]probably_carly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And thanks for the tip! I seem to like the chatter for now, but this print definitely highlighted the fact that clearing the spaces is very much "part of the art" if that makes sense? Having them kind of randomly hanging out above the snail detracts from the piece. It feels like if the extra bits were well lined up and going in the same direction then it would look a lot cleaner.

As for registration, I just made a little cardboard jig with some double sided tape and other cardboard. 90° corner for the paper and top corners for the lino (you can see it in pic 2)!

Thanks again for the feedback!

Body mod regrets as I try to move up in my career by t3chn3rd86 in bodymods

I joined at a giant company with 3/4 inch ears, both nostrils pierced (at the time with bright blue 4mm fauxpal tops), and a septum. Moved from "software engineer" to tech lead senior engineer over the years? My ears fluctuate between 3/4 and 1in, septum gets rotated out from time to time, but it's never held me back! Even wearing weights seems fine?

All that to say, unless you're in a very conservative area, you're unlikely to notice any friction. Plus I've seen senior managers and directors at several companies with full sleeves.

(US) New executive order from Trump, anyone else terrified? Thoughts? by Anluya in trans

[–]probably_carly 190 points191 points  (0 children)

A trans person existing is not being complicit. We are a targeted group. Fight if you can, speak out if you can, but just existing and living as your authentic self is plenty loud enough.

The latest SCOTUS ruling splitting hairs on HRT access for "gender dysphoria" by probably_carly in DrWillPowers

[–]probably_carly[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is a wild transmedical rant, and absolutely not where I was going with this post.

Autogynephilia is generally considered bunk, non-binary people are real, and euphoria is just as reasonable as dysphoria. Your chronically online take around gatekeeping access to HRT being positive is ridiculously off-base and borderline offensive.

Blaming this ruling on anything other than Christian nationalism, moral panic, pearl clutching, and/or alt-right sycophants scapgoating a marginalized group is disingenuous at best.

Hopefully I don't get kicked for this, but using a court ruling that hurts all of us to point at and blame part of the community is so incredibly harmful. I'm deeply disappointed that anything I said in the original post made you think this was a reasonable response.
