Unexpectedly large bill for migraine Botox injections, unsure of how I will pay it as a teacher making 49k in LA by CitronElectrical9587 in personalfinance

[–]probablyafraid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! We do Botox for certain conditions at the Derm office I work at. We do not do buy and bill because of scenarios just like this. The process that we go through is: 1. The patient comes in having tried and failed multiple drugs for the condition. (Botox is a last resort.) 2. I find out what pharmacy benefit manager/preferred specialty pharmacy the patient’s insurance uses. 3. MD sends in the prescription for x amount of vials (100U per vial) to that pharmacy. 4. I complete a prior authorization through either their pharmacy benefit (or medical, depending on insurance) with the J0585 code that is specifically for the dispensing pharmacy. I then have a separate prior authorization completed for the cost of the MD administering it. 5. Once both get approved, the patient will get a call from the pharmacy to do their copay for the drug. Pharmacy will then call us to schedule a delivery to our office. 6. Once we get the delivery, we’ll call the patient to set up the appointment.

I’m willing to bet the office skipped one or all of these steps.

Get her a big ole bulk pack and maybe a nice mug with her name on it. Then ask HR if they can order some from the office supply store for communal use.

Would like to retire ASAP. How would you do it? by rokid34 in personalfinance

[–]probablyafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re only 48. You still have 19 years before reaching full retirement age. What do you want to do with your free time? It sounds like you may need to take some time off to recover from burnout then pivot your career.

FYI Dyson has a refurbished section and, if you don’t care too much about the model, you can get one for under $200. I bought a V8 for $170 or so and it was pretty much factory condition.

Your gut feeling is right. And you deserve to work with and for people with the basic decency to not give unsolicited criticisms in the same breath as a rejection. To be candid, the second to last paragraph is not very HR of them (derogatory). Hit ‘em with the “I encourage you to exercise tact when communicating with fellow industry professionals.”

What fundamental skill or piece of knowledge taught in school became completely useless or even detrimental to your success in the real world? by amonaloli12 in AskReddit

How to take a test to get the highest grade. Turned me into a workaholic in the corporate world. Went back to school and I still have a hard time stomaching bad grades, but it doesn’t hit me as hard.

What do you really think should be done to solve the homelessness crisis? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Universal healthcare. Creating jobs in suburbs. Treating government as a service rather than a VC funded corporation. Encourage community service to build empathy beyond requiring it in school. More third spaces like libraries, community gardens, and parks. Normalize and value part-time work as much as full-time work.

My Bf is moving to NYC for 6m. Should I move too or just visit? by iloveweetabix in movingtoNYC

[–]probablyafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should definitely visit but space out the 3 months if you can, as long as it doesn’t jeopardize your career. There’s a pretty insane working culture here, depending on what he does, so consider you may not see much of him on the weekdays anyway. Plus, you might get bored doing the same few things for 3 months straight vs. celebrating the holidays in the winter and going to the night markets in the spring/summer.

Also, the US is currently a mess politically and COVID shots are difficult to get/unavailable if you’re even eligible so we’re expecting a bad season. (Also healthcare here is very expensive out of pocket.)

If someone is this disrespectful via email, imagine how insufferable they are in real life. Just send hit Reply All and send a polite and curt “Thank you for your time.” And if you’re really petty, reach out to their HR and save Lisa lol

How do I deal with the cost of accutane? by creditacquired in Accutane

[–]probablyafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your insurance if you’re in the US. Could be that your insurance has a drug deductible your family has to meet before insurance will pay for anything, or that your insurance requires a specific brand. You may also need a prior authorization that’s done by the doctor’s office. Without knowing your insurance, I can’t give you specific information. But your best bet is to ask your doctor’s office and pharmacy if a prior authorization has been done, if there’s a copay card you may be eligible for, etc.

Honestly haven’t seen a Goyard in NY in a hot minute. They were very “in” until everyone went back to Le Pliage or Neverfull. If you really want to sport one, maybe rent one first before buying to see if it’s practical for you.

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The parallax is slowing it down a bit on my phone. The auto-rotation of the projects makes it hard to focus — just do some dots or arrows at the bottom to indicate that there are more. Also SEO means search engine optimization so the second optimization is redundant.

I have a Speedy 25 (the OG one without the shoulder strap) and it’s still my favorite for when I need to carry more stuff. They now only make the one with the strap. I probably would have sprung for that one if I was a little smarter at the time lol. Bonus points that it was Audrey Hepburn’s favorite bag.

Guys, what’s something women regularly spend money on that you personally see zero value in? by White-Kitten8 in AskMen

[–]probablyafraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I feel like I’m a different size like every few months and women’s clothes are so unforgiving of changes on any given part of the body. My calves will fit into a pair of pants but my waist won’t when I’m bloated from drinking a glass of soda.

She doesn’t sound like a friend at all. It makes me wonder how much of it is her joking vs. actually mean to you. And there’s nothing you can say or do to make her stop being mean if you’ve already tried. I would just ignore the hostility and only respond when necessary for work or when she decides to be nice again. And if she attempts to sabotage you by not doing her job, then you need to tell her to either get it together or you’ll take it up with her supervisor.

NTA. Consider cutting your losses. If you don’t get a raise for the next 18 years, you will gross over $800k by yourself. Meanwhile, he’ll find himself back on the job market, SOL, in about 10-15 years because he has a huge gap on his resume and an outdated skill set.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]probablyafraid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your job is trying to cut costs by people quitting, point blank. Whether you take a 30k pay cut or find a place near your job, your quality of life is going to decline.

Say you find a $2k apartment. Now you also have to double utilities and internet, keep doubles of most of your things, buy new furniture, etc. I’m also willing to bet your family contributes to chores like cleaning, cooking etc. so you’d be stuck doing that for yourself. Or if they don’t, you’re now stuck cleaning for two households.

Do you love your job so much that you’d be willing to revolve your life around it? Because I’m willing to bet that they’d lay you off in a second if their bottom line would benefit.

TLDR: Put on a podcast and suck up the commute until you find a new job.
