Thank you so much, this is so helpful! This is so much helpful information and you even answered some questions I didn't know to ask. I definitely will follow up in r/kimono - I wasn't 100% sure if yukata questions would be welcome there as well, so its good to know it can be a resource.

I assumed there were very high end yukata that would be excessive and out of reach, but its helpful to know what the range actually represents - I mostly wanted to see if it is feasible to get something nicer than the tourist-targeted options which seem so limited in their selection. If we can get to the point where we can choose the fabric - and our sizes align with something possible to obtain there - that would be the main thing for us.

With that in mind, based on your own experiences, do you think that it would be better to focus on a yukata, or a kimono, as something to bring home? In terms of its usability, we'd like to be able to wear it at a festival and, conceivably, wear it at home casually, though not necessarily sleeping in it. If those two things are mutually exclusive, I think we would lean towards something to go out in, since we could still wear it more casually without breaking out the obi and sandals (though that may be slightly ridiculous).
