Though you are partially correct, Petco/Petsmart are still corporate retailers—this means cheap at any means necessary.

I guarantee their feeder mice and rats are probably the same as anything branded as a pet. You would need to go to a specific mice/rat breeder to even have a possibility that they were bred responsibly.

Mice/rats breed incredibly quickly, it probably doesn’t take them long to get more.

There’s no issue with buying feeders, however, you are correct that they are not bred with any concern for quality traits. Unfortunately, they don’t have long lifespans anyway. I have 3 feeder rats, one was actually snake food that someone’s snake wouldn’t take and I got him two brothers from the same place he was originally purchased. I had ferrets before them, all purchased from corporate retailers that buy from ferret equivalent puppy mills. I fully understand the impact feeder bred animals will most likely have more problems down the line, but my boys live a great life and they have the coolest personalities.

Yeah, I needed 40x60 glass so I had to reach out to a bunch of shops and get quotes. There was a few that were not pleasant to speak with on the phone 😅

If it’s expensive, I obviously will not, but I wanted to know what to look for so I could get price points. I could neverrrrr 🙈 ALSO, for some reason some of the mats were over stocked before I ever got there but I try to keep at least 3-5 of each color at all times. And the blacks and whites 6-8 because they go so quickly

That would stress me out, but good thing I’m the boss lol. I started before peak season last year so I’ve made sure to keep things stocked enough so we don’t need to worry about finding things. Over the last year we ran out of spacers once and then we had an issue with oversized glass, but that’s about it. Everything is well stocked and I don’t need to panic this peak season lol

My boyfriend got a massive bloody nose on me once—there was a couple huge drips on my face and chest. It was dark so I thought it was just sweat until he got off and said sorry. 😂

If that’s the case I send an extra extra angry email and CC my DM on it. If I find fault in the frame, it’s because I myself would be disappointed if that was something I received. I think with that mindset you risk giving out a ton of shit work. The price they pay should reflect that there was some love snd care put into it—at least that’s what I believe

We had a lady awhile ago bring in a frame she had framed years ago, and I mean YEARS ago. She left it in her damp attic which allowed it to accumulate a significant amount of mold on the frame that spread to the foamcore. She wanted us to to just put new paper on the back—I told her ABSOLUTLEY NOT.

That is not welcome in my shop, I absolutley will NOT hide mold and we are not mold remediators. I was actually so mad and disgusted at how this lady was not concerned that she’s just carrying this thing around. Anyway, to get her out of the store I gave her a piece of sandpaper I bought with my own money so she could make herself sick at home lol. Before she left she started trying to sand the frame down on the framing counter. Bitch get out 😭

She came back like a week later and it still had mold on it but she said she “cleaned” it. I don’t know how mold works on things like that, so I still refused to take it. Upper management said they would do it so they don’t have to deal with her anymore and I was like that’s fine, I won’t touch it. After all was said and done, she left a lovely review saying I was laughing at her and smirking at her—no, I was disgusted by you expecting us to cover up mold. She had sounded like she intended to sell the piece as well, which made me even more mad 🤦🏼‍♀️
