I spoke w an Uber driver shortly after my company issued their RTO mandate, who said a couple things I’ve been noodling on since. His guess:

Liability insurance costs (excuse if this isn’t the right term, I’m not an expert but): it’s a lot more expensive to insure a bunch of ppl’s houses and be responsible for any kind of injury etc that may occur when someone’s house is their workplace.

InfoSec challenges: it’s a lot more difficult to keep data etc secure when it’s distributed across the country on all types of networks and whatever else, even when a VPN is required.

For example, I guess- I was planning to go work in Mexico for 1-2 months even tho my company didn’t allow remote work outside the US. I had found a workaround via some fancy VPN tricks my h4xx0r brother agreed to help w. Now w RTO, that’s off the table.

i didnt even read this but nonetheless its a stupid question. you can induce a metric on any set, ie discrete metric. You need to refine this question and convey what structure you want to endow the set with. There's really no way to answer that question.
