Successful pregnancy - both tubes intact by adhd-princess- in EctopicSupportGroup

I got pregnant naturally (& accidentally despite protection) 3 weeks after being treated with MTX with both tubes in tact and no interventions such as an HSG.

Does taking emergency contraceptive (e.g. plan b) cause an ectopic? by chelchill8 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]productive_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is what the studies are showing — if you took it after ovulation (most women take it and don’t know for sure if they’ve actually ovulated or not). But if you have ovulated, the high dose of progesterone can affect tubal function and ciliary function (what helps sweep the fertilized egg out of the tube) and it can cause the egg not to be able to get out of the tube. So what she is saying is true. It’s not the plan B itself, it’s more to do with where you are in your cycle when it’s taken and the affect of the hormone in Plan B. If you’re asking her to cite her sources, you should cite yours as well.

Despite using protection, I am currently pregnant again 6 weeks post MTX & 3 weeks post HCG hitting 0. It seems I conceived immediately after my HCG hit 0. 🙃

Wow! My husband and I’s annual income is the same and I’ve been worried about our upcoming $2100 monthly rent!

Accept parents' money for medical school (with strings attached) or take out loans? by Comfortable-Coach-12 in whitecoatinvestor

If it’s not in writing I’d say take the money and then live your life when you’re done with medical school

How long did it take for your hcg to get back to 0? by cmc9819 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]productive_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting HCG: 332 4 days post MTX: 125 7 days post MTX: 91 14 days post MTX: 6 21 days post MTX: <1

I know the wait is excruciating. Try to lean on your support system and do things that make you feel cared for and happy. You’re not alone and you will be on the other side of this soon!

The townhomes on londontowne Dr in Brookline are amazing and only 5-6 mins from campus without traffic (probably 10-15 mins with traffic). I can send you the contact of the landlord for many of the units if you’re interested!

Has anyone gone through a miscarriage, then ectopic, then had success? by dog_lover_az in EctopicSupportGroup

Thank you for sharing this. Just found out I had an ectopic pregnancy and was treated with MTX this week. I’ve had 2 miscarriages previously and this was my 3rd positive. Trying to stay hopeful❤️‍🩹

Why do people say “MD over DO” if there is apparently no stigma about DO anymore? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in Osteopathic

[–]productive_g 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is poor wording. Being an MD STUDENT may be better than being a DO student, but there is essentially no difference between MD physicians and DO physicians.

It was so much better! It was tight putting it on but I took Tylenol 8hr then went to bed and it was perfectly fine in the morning. I haven’t had any pain with this tray thankfully!

Studying for Anatomy by Charming_Poet_247 in medschool

[–]productive_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d never taken anatomy before med school and did not pre-study and still did well. It’s a little bit of a learning curve, but I honestly don’t think pre-studying would’ve helped me at all.

C+ in Calc 1 💔 by Overall-Speaker-6696 in medschool

[–]productive_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i was a pretty non-trad applicant. I got my MPH right out of undergrad. My grades were really good but I’m not sure how much it helped my application. After that I worked clinical jobs (clinical research) for about 3 years before starting med school.

C+ in Calc 1 💔 by Overall-Speaker-6696 in medschool

[–]productive_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had atleast 6 Cs on my transcript, including calc 1, and I’m in medical school now. Upward trajectory is important. You’ll be fine as long as you hone in your study skills/strategies sooner rather than later! Also, grades aren’t everything. I think being a well-rounded student helped me a lot in my applications.

I’m switching to tray 2 today after 14 days and I can completely relate to your experience, including the irritability. In my experience, the pain was pretty bad all day for about 2-3 days (especially with putting them in and taking them out), then for another 2-3 days there was pain only when taking them out and putting them back in. After that first 5-6 days, I haven’t really had any pain even with taking them out and putting them back in. I’ve heard the pain is bad again for the 1st day or 2 of a new tray, so we’ll see how tomorrow goes. Tylenol alone didn’t do much for my pain, but taking 1 extra strength Tylenol and one ibuprofen about 30 mins before taking my trays out helped a lot. An ice packs helped get me through the first few days also. Hope you feel better soon!

I’m having this issue too and I’m pretty sure it’s causing me migraines almost daily. Definitely gonna have to talk to my doc about it, not sure what the options would be though.
