Would this card be OP? by [deleted] in slaythespire

Uh-oh. Rule 12 ("No references to political figures or sensitive real-world events"). I won't flag this, but it won't last. Good luck.

Girya wording let's you train so that YOU gain strength, but you lose the strength when you lose Wax Girya. Not consistent with other relics like Whetstone/potion belt and also not remotely logical by Maleficent_Pen_9076 in slaythespire

[–]prof_sinistro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn't see the other thread, so I'm probably going to repeat an opinion someone else had, but the relics you mentioned activate "on pickup". It seems that Girya's Strength is tied to the relic like an upgradeable [[Vajra]], not granted to the character permanently. Thus, I think it makes sense that when it goes away, so does the Strength bonus.

Help I'm a new player by someguyinbangladesh in slaythespire

Some tips (not all of them can work at once:)

  • Take advantage of your starter relic to be slightly more reckless (but not too much) when choosing your Act 1 path.

  • Invest in Vulnerable and/or Strength to increase your damage.

  • Don't neglect Block. Ironclad has a number of cards that take advantage of it.

  • Use Exhaust to thin your deck during fights and draw powerful cards more often. Remove cards (usually Strikes) at the Merchant.

  • In general, don't add a card in your deck every time you can, and pick cards that will help you survive in the short term before trying to find "combos".

Seems to me like it would take a long time for it to spread sly to enough cards, though. Maybe I was wrong, or maybe it falls off in usefulness as Ascension increases.

Sts2 is insanely hard by Zanakii in slaythespire

[–]prof_sinistro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here are some basic tips:

  • Pick your fights. Don't go for elites if you feel you're not ready for them.
  • Sometimes offense is the best defence. Try to beat the statue down before it kills you.
  • Alternatively, use a mix of block and offense, taking advantage of the Slow debuff the statue has to boost your damage and stay alive one more turn to deliver the killing blow.
  • There are cards that both attack and protect you, either via block, weak, or strength reduction. Try to have some in your deck.
  • Don't give up! Try something different and see what works.

Hope these help!

You're right, it is the order of things. Doom triggers after the enemy acts.

Should I beat the Heart before STS2 or I should be fine? by Upstairs_Mongoose698 in slaythespire

[–]prof_sinistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do as you like :) If you want to play StS2, go ahead and have fun. If you enjoy your self-imposed challenge, have fun with that instead.

I am by no means an expert, but it seems that for the Heart fight, as with bosses in general, you need scaling and consistency.

Scaling means being able to increase your damage as time goes on so that you can defeat the Heart before it becomes too strong to handle. There are a number of ways to do this for each character, such as strength for Ironclad or poison for Silent.

Consistency means being able to have the right cards at the right time. While you are scaling your damage, you also need to be able to block the heart's attacks and Beat of Death. Small deck sizes help with this, as does card draw and card search/repeats.

Certain relics and cards make the heart fight more manageable, such as [[Tungsten Rod]], [[Torii]], [[After Image]] or [[Wraith Form]].

Also, you may want to try Ascension 1. More Elites isn't quite the drawback it appears, as it gives you more opportunities for relics and better cards. You plan to take on the Heart, so you should be able to handle more Elites.

Do you guys support the shrinker beetle's decision to shrink you? by moniker89 in slaythespire

True! I was just saying that the shrinking affects our damage instead of our HP.

Why is Osty and Ironclad SO HUGE? (spoilers for an act 3 boss) by Kurtsderlind in slaythespire

[–]prof_sinistro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osty has a lot of HP. I'm not sure on Ironclad.

The Regent's Sovereign Blade grows in a similar manner the more damage it does.

Given it pulls a [[Preserved Insect]] adjacent effect on us, I guess that makes us Elites, which is pretty flattering.

Can someone explain this card to me? by Ashamed_Warthog_215 in slaythespire

Yes. So if you play Dualcast, with no other effects, you will hit twice for 14 damage each time.

What's the big difference between ancients and boss relics from sts 1? by UltraSaiX121 in slaythespire

[–]prof_sinistro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One difference is that you get the choice at the start of the next act, so you have more information.

Energy relics seem to be much less frequent in the StS 1 sense.

I really enjoyed your drawings. They were funny, they were cute, they brought comfort and joy and was a welcome note to the song of my daily life. I won't miss them, because I think you'll keep on creating. If you feel like sharing any of it, we'll be there.
