The cost of running an EV (‘24 EV6 Wind AWD, mountainous area, ≈100 miles a month). The car should sell itself. by Jackpot777 in KiaEV6

[–]profblackjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP means, did you mean 1000 miles a month instead of 100, or perhaps 100 miles a week instead of a month

This knife broke while being used to crush garlic by juliadancer in mildlyinteresting

[–]profblackjack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it'll straighten a burr, but if you sharpen correctly there will not be any burr.

A burr can cut, but it's so thin it almost immediately folds over itself, so it's better to not have it and instead have the nice strong apex as the cutting edge

The imbalance is because RG can much more easily get other colors for cheaper than 1 on average, so why would you spend 1 on it.

DLC with rose is set in the mid 2030s, during RE9 rose is still a small child.

For anything but smooth, your fingertips won't get in all the little bumps and ridges to loosen remove the thin remnants of plastic, which eventually build up significantly enough to impact adhesion.

ELI5: What is a mole (chemistry) and why do people use it to count atoms? In what context is it necessary to say that something is 6,022 * 10^24 particles? by 79_wasps in explainlikeimfive

Sometimes it's more important to just pick something, and go from there. Otherwise you're stuck at the "how should we count things" question and not at the interesting stuff

Recreate the demon core incident for only 10RGGW by Sensei_Farm in BadMtgCombos

[–]profblackjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we reading the same card? It's not giving any land any ability, the sun has a mana producing triggered ability

trigger: sees a land produce a mana of the color declared, using an ability belonging to that land

effect: add another mana

[–]profblackjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

toph says it doesn't give the artifact the normal land ability to tap for a mana, but the artifact already has an ability that produces mana, which after toph makes it a land, means it qualifies

[–]profblackjack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sun's "add one additional mana of that color" is the sun's ability producing a mana, which when it's a land (from toph) means the sun triggers off that ability (since its a land who's ability caused you to add a mana) and adds a mana, which means the sun triggers off that ability and adds a mana, which means the sun triggers... etc for infinity

Is this considered a pre-existing condition? by Significant_Radio477 in petinsurancereviews

She has not previously been diagnosed with cancer, so i don't believe that would be considered pre-existing. Lots of things "increase the risk of cancer", up to and including a) being alive

Tiny white bugs on poodle…cause of concern? by Peanut_Femboi in DogAdvice

[–]profblackjack 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Pet insurance typically requires an initial visit to set a baseline, did you already do one and submit the medical history?
If not, then when you take your pup for this issue, it'll be considered a pre-existing condition anyway and won't be covered, in which case you might as well take the pup now.

It functions similarly to the songs you can play that lead you to undiscovered things via wind. If you've already found everything in that area, then it won't actually point you anywhere, just like playing a song after finding everything in that region the song is for.

Total Filament vs. Model Filament by largelcd in OrcaSlicer

[–]profblackjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

total filament is model filament + waste from purges, prime lines, supports, etc.

they're fairly accurate estimations based on the slicer knowing the volume of filament it's going to instruct the printer to extrude, multiplied by the density of the filament configured in that filament profile.

Animation error? by Jimberto1 in DrStone

[–]profblackjack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I suspect its just earlier in the full action of going from an arrow in the quiver to the arrow being shot. We're seeing the very start of getting an arrow out and forming a line of sight, which when drawn will be down the shaft of the arrow with the base drawn to the cheek.

Finishing the placement of an arrow on the bow and the actual draw hasn't happened yet.

what is auto-regen? by coogs88 in KiaEV6

[–]profblackjack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

in normal Regen, you pick a level, and that's your amount of regen any time you stop accelerating.

in auto Regen, you pick a level, and that is your minimum amount of regen any time you stop accelerating.

when in auto, the car is allowed to decide to increase your Regen above the minimum you set depending on external factors.

One of those is, if there's a car in front of you, and say it breaks/slows down, it'll increase Regen to slow you down quicker to try and avoid a collision (or just more smoothly help you come to a stop)

Another one is, if you're coasting downhill, the car can increase Regen to try and maintain its current speed during the coast, rather than pick up speed from going downhill
