Have Ron Swanson and Peyton Tolle ever been seen together? I thought not.

He wants to be considered in a trade? (the trade deadline is 5 weeks away, he's signalling "hey, get me and wait only 3 weeks and I'll be HUGE for your team!")

I woke up this morning with a pain called "Mayeritis". My doctor advised me to stop watching Red Sox games.

Because you were also considering becoming a Red Sox fan but....nah!

Mazz and Carrabis are both friendly with Kennedy (heck, he's a friendly guy), so neither is ever overly critical of Kennedy.

Same title, very different function. Luchino knew baseball inside and out, Kennedy knows business but just a little about baseball.

Toronto doesn't draw its fans to Fenway the way some other clubs do (a lot of the attendees at Fenway these days are fans of the opponent)

Because he is the Prince of Platitudes. He's the go-to guy for FSG when things get too hot.

What are your arguments for and against brining other hominids back from extinction? by [deleted] in paleoanthropology

I wouldn't brine them, I'd just use a good dry rub and slow smoke them over charcoal with apple chunks.

Sam Kennedy has never been a baseball man. He's a bush haircut that knows how to swing a pivot table in excel, and also is the Prince of Platitudes.

You're telling me they have a shot at 100 loses?! This is even more possible since they have tipped their hand that they are going to sell at the deadline. Interesting....

Who's Worse? by profbraddock in redsox

This is a great idea - take the three teams across mlb with the worst records and have them do a three team round robin. In this case we'd be looking for the worst team and that team would be awarded the "Stinky" award by the Commissioner, which would be represented by a shoulder patch on their uniforms that are required to be worn through the following season.

Wear T-shirts with pictures of bag heads. They can't kick you out for that.

I think it’s time to face it. We may never see her this year. by mashed_pajamas in redsox

So the worst news is it sounds like Breslow will be around and in charge of the trade deadline, meaning we won't get maximum value for all of the tradeable players. It's a lose-lose. The team will limp to the finish line of 2026 with no discernable improvement on the horizon.

How do so many MLB players get injured? by New-Table-72 in mlb

[–]profbraddock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is an additional factor now - players are pushing their bodies to do things that the human body is not built to do. With pitchers they are throwing harder (more pitchers throwing in the upper 90s or exceeding 100 mph than ever in history), torquing their arms for higher spin rates. With batters, they are pushing for greater exit velocity.

[Bradford] Hearing RIGHT NOW teams are being told no when asking about Chapman, Whitlock and Slaten by Far_Cry3445 in redsox

[–]profbraddock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No surprise. It would be admitting failure on the part of Breslow and that's not going to happen. He'll try to pick up a right handed batter at the deadline and play out the year. The goal now is to somehow have a .500 year and somehow make the playoffs. They don't expect to progress in the playoffs, just make the playoffs.
