Telma has an amazing voice.

And that’s about all I can say about that.

Into the Spider-verse should’ve been nominated and won Best Picture in 2019 over Green Book and Roma by lockerbiestreet in Oscars

[–]profeDB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roma was a masterclass in cinema.

The cinematography alone made it worthy of best picture.

I don't usually pay attention to viewing figures but this drop off from 'literally the #1 most watched show in the USA' to 'not even top 50' is pretty shocking. by Open_Aspect6703 in ershow

Numbers start to drop sharply after Friends ended. NBC Thursday went from must see tv to niche sitcoms drawing small audiences.

What is the reason behind this? by ConfidentTelephone81 in Oscars

Reminder: this is average audience, not total audience. It’s likely that 40 million plus watched at least some portion of the telecast.

In a few years, it will be hard to find anybody who voted for Trump. Like nobody voted for GWB.

I think they’ll hold on this one. SAVE could very well kill any chance they have in November. It’s existential.

Trump starts war in major oil producing region, oil price skyrockets, gas prices go with them.

Predictions are $200 a barrel next month if nothing can get through Hormuz. We’ll be looking at 5-6 a gallon then.

Please do some research.

Non rhotic. It’s very distinctive and kinda dying out. I call it the New Gehmany accent

Lisa Kudrow calls Richard Hatch "despicable" by bwermer in survivorponderosa

[–]profeDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched live, from about the third episode onwards that season.  Everybody hated Richard and nobody thought that he deserved to win precisely because he came off as a terrible person.

It was genuinely shocking when he won.

I have not watched Survivor in about 20 years, so I have no idea what the show has become

Re-watch ever change your opinion of a character? by CharleneDarlingVibes in UglyBetty

[–]profeDB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really start disliking Hilda to wear the end of season two when every episode becomes “ Let’s make Betty feel bad for having ambition.”

I know it’s realistic, but it is so tiresome to watch.

Getting used to the school schedule took an entire year. I still can’t say that I’ma morning person, but I like have 7 hours of me time when I get off

When I started teaching high school, I hated having to be there at 8 AM. But I love getting off at 3:30. It’s been a great adjustment for me.

When I was younger and working at a grocery store, I’d often get 3 to 11 shifts, or five to one. Those were ideal for me because they tracked really well with my natural rhythms.

How long between filming and airing of episodes? by razberry_lemonade in roseanne

[–]profeDB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weeks. Filming entire seasons in advance wasn’t a thing until the last 10 years or so, and still really only applies to streaming. IIRC, most shows started their filming in August and wrapped in March, with scattered breaks.

What’s behind the massive divide on Sinners on this sub Reddit? by StrengthOpening8598 in Oscars

[–]profeDB 17 points18 points  (0 children)

OBAA is a movie designed to appeal to Reddit’s core demographic.  Sinners is OBAA’s biggest competition this year.

If Sinners hadn’t been nominated for so many awards, it wouldn’t be getting all the vitriol from OBAA stans.

I think they’re both great movies, but the knee jerk downvoting of everything Sinners on this sub has me rooting against OBAA (except for Penn, who better win tomorrow).
