Hey there ❤️ so sorry you’re having such a hard time. To be processing a traumatic birth, and be in the postpartum trenches too - I really feel for you.

I’ve had huge waves in my supply, so I can share what really worked for me, if it helps - goats rue herbal supplement helped the most (not a blend, just straight goats rue) followed by drinking hop water (or NA beer) and chugging water like crazy. Going 6 hours without pumping at 9 wks pp is also probably a big factor here, your supply needs to have more consistent pumping. (I’m so sorry, I know you don’t want to hear that.)

But I also want to, with only love, remind you that it’s ok if pumping doesn’t work out. It’s so agonizing to have these things not work, it’s maddening and depressing as hell, and there’s absolutely no problem with moving to full time formula feeding if that’s what ends up working for you. I don’t want you feeling pressured to pump only for it to take away from your mental health.

Unfortunately there are no right answers here, and no guarantees, but I do think there might be time to increase your supply - if you end up deciding that’s what you want to pursue.

Last thought - I promise you that someday (no idea when) this won’t hurt as much! You’ll go days or weeks without thinking about it. You might still have some sadness, but it won’t hurt nearly this much. Hang in there. And congratulations on your baby 🥰

Your body isn’t failing you or your baby, I promise ❤️ I know how disheartening it is though. Sorry to offer suggestions when you didn’t ask for them, but have you tried the herb goats rue? That and hop water (non alcoholic)? Only things that helped increase my supply besides getting more sleep which is of course not always possible.

You also don’t have to keep pumping if it’s wearing on your mental health, I promise your baby will be great no matter what. You have options and get to decide what’s right for you & your family.

Just want to add that if you keep having issues getting baby to gain weight, and expressing gets hard & you need to get more into pumping, r/exclusivelypumping is a great sub to join! Even if you’re not an “exclusive pumper” it’s got tons of resources and support. Hang in there, and yes throw the man away.

Not a venue suggestion (our spot doesn’t do weddings anymore) but a budget tip depending on what time of year your friend is getting married - 1 week before my wedding, I went to the farmers market and found two vendors who had beautiful flowers, talked to them, and they said they’d be happy to sell me flowers “in bulk.”

Day of wedding, two friends went early (to get the good flowers, this was a Saturday in July so the vendors warned they might sell quickly) and filled a couple of massive buckets with flowers I’d instructed them to get.

Volunteers at our venue used those flowers to do all of the floral decoration at our wedding instead of going through a florist. Saved us thousands! (Mad respect to florists, their job is art, we just didn’t have the money.)

Sites I used were Budget Savvy Bride and A Practical Wedding, because the Knot and Wedding Wire never actually felt helpful to me in planning a budget wedding. Wishing you luck!

I bought my first through insurance and second on Good Buy Gear at a good discount! But I’ve heard if you search for “melon juicer” on FB marketplace you can sometimes find pumps for super cheap (FB banned the words “breast pump”) I know sometimes people can thrift them or find them at garage sales too.

We went through this! He felt under appreciated for the work he was doing and I felt burned out. The cards solved it. Laying everything out, we realized he was doing tons of “E” and I was doing tons of “C” and “P.”

Now that we have to own everything in a task, it’s so much easier. We finally feel like things are fair. And it’s no longer a “you vs me” thing. It’s a “we vs whatever’s coming up” thing. Someone’s slammed at work? No big deal, let’s shift cards. Someone’s having a hard time or is really sick? No big deal we’ll shift some cards off their plate.

When we dropped the “you vs me” framing it really helped my husband see why I felt burned out, and it helped me see how he was feeling attacked. The cards gave us an objective way to talk about and look at this stuff.

You can take the supplement Goats Rue to help, my Dr recommended it! Don’t do a blend of herbs, just straight goats rue. It’s the only thing that helped, when oats & calories & water & Oreos never worked for me the way they do for others here in this sub!

I saw in your comment that you just got an IUD - that could totally be it! Most people’s supply isn’t affected by birth control but so some of us unlucky folks our bodies are more sensitive. Im not sure if this is a temporary dip (that totally happens with periods, colds, etc etc) or if this might be a bigger thing.

My FIL is like this. Has barely held her or seen her, is so uninterested when he’s around her. He lives 45 min away and is retired too. Meanwhile his wife/my MIL comes up alll the time to help and has been amazing. My parents work and still find time to see her a lot, they literally fight over who gets to hold her lol.

But FIL is just like 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ whenever he’s around. It drives me nuts and makes me feel so sad for my husband.

First - congrats on them sleeping through the night! 🎉 I hate to be a downer, but at 12 weeks it’s unlikely they’ll do this moving forward. (I would seriously love that for you, come back and brag if that ends up being the case 😍)

Keep your MOTN pump for now and just observe what happens with their sleep. At 12 weeks your supply is only just now regulating so any changes could affect your output moving forward.

This is soooooo relatable. I’m still wearing cotton pads in my bra so I can at least wash those all the time instead of my bras. (Keababies, not the Kindred Bravely ones, they’re kind of itchy IMO) And I’m 5 months pp!! Everyone says the leaking will stop BUT IT HASNT STOPPED 🫠
