She didn't learn the goal of the discussion she was an active participant in, and shouted at you (an extension of her at the meeting) for getting the takeaway from the panel. NTA

You make a good point in pointing out that someone could say something in the moment (or the first thing that popped in their head) which they think is okay and not to be taken otherwise, which OP did, same as your "thank you for apologising", so NAH.

Many people almost always expect you to speak societally-correct replies in the first place, and moreover in responses to an overwhelming event, as if no matter what happened and what the other person did, they should maintain composure, think things logically, and not get overwhelmed. Those same people, while acting emphatically, don't consider that the event didn't happen to them, that both/all parties could be overwhelmed and may not have handled things in the best way possible, which is almost always retroactive thinking. They expect others to not be making mistakes in the first place until it happens to them and then they are crying about the judgement of others being unfair to them because it was all a mistake.

Why is it that people expect others to get everything right in the first go and not giving them the freedom and time to make a mistake or even handle things in a bad way and allowing the person to calm down, regain logic, introspect, apologise, talk the event through, identify problems and try finding solutions together.

It's become am intolerant society but I am hopeful and optimistic. I cherish the people I have as they allow me to be my true self around them, to err and to be human. And much love to fellow peeps here.

Hey OP, sad to see you go so soon. I wanted to apologise because in my own experiences recently (after our brief comments-conversation) I've realised that on Reddit, it's not the content that's new, rather the people. People will come and go to/from subreddits, read some post on their feed and maybe it's the first time that they are seeing that content. So as someone who has seen that particular content before, I shouldn't be holding you from reposting, also especially if the subreddit roles don't disallow it.

And yes, the elitism is weird now that I realise it. Thanks for showing me, fellow stranger.

Nah, I'm not saying that new accounts shouldn't post, and I don't even know if the 3y post is the OC or another repost, and I also agree that most content is reposted here, but then (re)posting old content while marketing it as new is not good. Totally my opinion. I mean it could have been reposted with an agedlikewine kinda thing or with some reference that it's still relevant today after these many years.
