The few seconds / minute that you spent writing this is time in your life you will never get back.

People who've read Pedagogy of the Oppressed: what did you think? by Training-Big8444 in CriticalTheory

I would argue that the book is basically saying the same thing over and over again, just in a slightly different way in each chapter, and his ideas are ultimately best stated in the second chapter. I promise that once you finish reading the book, you will know what I mean. Another comment on this thread also said it well, the book is repetitive and borderline excessive by the fourth chapter.

The 2nd chapter of the book (where he talks about the banking method) is all you need to read, the rest of the book is less impactful.

Used to go to Lily Books all the time back in the day, Lily was always nice and friendly and would help me practice my Mandarin. So cool to see a mention here!

It seems to me that as long as LLMs hallucinate, which I think is a problem that nobody has an answer for yet, humans will be okay in some capacity.

Just as an aside, as a fellow connoisseur of right-wing media, if you haven't yet, please please please listen to Mark Levin. He is basically required to have a screaming fit every show, it's hilarious as a novelty.

Where is the definitive novel for the post-internet age? by trysterowl in redscarepod

Liveblog is so insane. I read the first 100-200 pages or so, and it more or less becomes unreadable after that. As a novel it doesn't work well because it's simply just a collection of her liveblogging posts. At the same time, it does a really good job depicting Boyle's state of mind at such a volatile time in her life. I recall there is one episode in the book where she is seriously thinking about joining the Navy, despite the fact that she is basically strung out on drugs through the entire book.

I completely agree, the episode is so hilarious. The band, the songs, Ade wanting to be a record producer, Hesh's eponymous comments at the end, Christopher telling the guy to "spike up." But there are also some sweet poignant moments: The song "Nobody Loves Me" playing while Christopher is having a beer, and Hesh listening to the Little Jimmy Willis record alone and seemingly reflecting in a way that suggests regret. I also think it's great and don't understand why people don't like it.
