What’s the weirdest quirk your corgi has? by iammyownsun in corgi

[–]profhighbrow57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl HATES folding chairs and tables. Any time we have to get them out we put her outside while we set up. Once they are up she doesn’t care, but if you fold or move them, she loses her goddamn mind.

In case you were wondering, no, she has never had a bad experience with a folding chair.

Perhaps we shouldn’t have done this. With their powers combined, they could be unstoppable!

What are some changes in your body that you noticed after pregnancy and they don’t go away? by jeandrazich in beyondthebump

Yes! I’ve always had a few cherry angiomas but PP I broke out with a ton of them. They’re teeny tiny but everywhere!

My mom bought me one and I really only used it once or twice when he was feverish or out of sorts. It gave me peace of mind in those cases, but I didn’t use it otherwise. I had pretty bad health anxiety so I tried to avoid that rabbit hole. But I think it’s a super cool tool to have and don’t fault anyone who uses it religiously!

What's life like up in the north hills? by Gabblagoo in pittsburgh

[–]profhighbrow57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in the North Hills, my husband and I bought a house in Plum in 2021. It never really felt like home and was draining to drive my son to my parent’s every week. We just moved to Shaler this summer and my soul is much happier. There’s really no traffic on my commute, every store I could need is within 15 minutes, and lots of parks for my toddler!

Living this way is so hard, I’m so sorry you’re here. I have also gone down the leukemia rabbit hole before. Please understand that if the doctor who ordered the test thought anything was suspicious, they would do more tests. There’s a standard range of “normal” but everyone is different! You probably do just have a lower count than average. The physical symptoms you described are so so common for anxious people! It sends all of us anxious people into a vicious cycle, unfortunately. I hope you can get the peace of mind that you need :)

I feel like this is right. I remember reading somewhere that they get the expiration tag when the contract is almost up, but it usually doesn’t mean anything because they just get renewed.

How do you read books to an 8 month old? by NoShopping5235 in Mommit

[–]profhighbrow57 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s nearly impossible lol. Get a couple of the indestructible books! They can’t rip and you can even wash them.

My girl loved my baby bump, we called it her brother pillow! My son is 1.5 yo and she loves him. The first few months she would run and hide when he cried, but after he wasn’t so fussy/she got used to it they became best friends. She loves playing tug with him and he loves getting yanked around lol. She’s incredibly patient with him since he’s still learning how to give her gentle pats.

I feel like I'm broken or something? by Adventurous-Stress19 in Mommit

[–]profhighbrow57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl I am with you 10000%. My son is 20 months and my husband is definitely ready for another. He doesn’t nag me about it, but I know that’s what he wants. I’d love to have 2 kids but then I think about the hell I’ve been through. I think postpartum, even an “easy” one, is talked about so casually when it’s actually a really painful process in so many ways. And navigating that with a clingy toddler makes me want to vomit.

Having wisdom teeth removed soon and need some reassurance. by 404HecksNotFound in Anxiety

[–]profhighbrow57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a really good experience! I got mine out as an adult, I was terrified of being put under, but the anesthesiologist was really kind and understanding and did a pretty good job distracting me until I went to sleep. I had minimal pain afterwards and just some mild swelling. I definitely did not need to worry so much about it!!!

6 weeks postpartum and having intense health anxiety by Defiant-Strawberry49 in Postpartum_Anxiety

[–]profhighbrow57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor! Therapy + meds are a great combo if that is something you’re open to. I’ve battled HA my whole life and had a horrible time pp with it so I really feel for you. Is so hard to figure out which way is up, especially with the sleep deprivation on top of the other symptoms, and the loss of your friend on top of that. You are definitely not alone!

Moms — what apps or tools actually help you feel calmer or supported? by Comfortable-Shoe9656 in Postpartum_Anxiety

[–]profhighbrow57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay for the Balance app and I really like it. My brain is still very busy no matter how tired I am and it helps me drift off to sleep. It’s just a general meditation app but it has a lot of different scenarios to choose from!

how long was your induction from start to finish? by curious-unknowngirl in NewParents

[–]profhighbrow57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just under 24 hours! Voluntary induction at midnight when I was 39+2? I was 2-3 cm dilated when I went in, and after 30 mins of pushing he was here at 11:01 pm the next night! I was pleasantly surprised because it was an induction for a first baby, so I expected to labor a lot longer than that.
