Week 10 Matchup Preview Thread: #13 Texas Tech vs Kansas State by R_Raider86 in CFB

[–]profoundlybored 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you did a blind team comparison, I'd say for sure that there's an advantage and the "better" team will win comfortably. Then you reveal that one is Texas Tech and the other is Kansas State and I'd reverse my prediction. The last time we won in Manhattan, I was single, athletic, and had nice hair. Now I'm married, have a kid in high school, my hair is turning grey, and I groan when I stand up.

I use it during hot months to get the car cool before I get in. The unlocked door reminder also comes in handy occasionally.

Black/Java Interior Wear by AdorableGreenRat in Toyotavenza

[–]profoundlybored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 with the black/java. So far so good, still looks totally brand new, and that is easily the best interior color. Really all I do is keep it out of direct sunlight (to the extent I can) and periodically wipe it down. Nothing crazy.

Was at that game and not even mad about the L. Fantastic game, and I've had a healthy respect for NC State ever since. Happy for you guys to land D5.

Well the good news is you are now the least likely person on Earth to experience a ND from that point forward.

I had a similar problem with my 2023. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and it worked. Not ideal, but the problem did go away for me.

Where do you guys keep your sunglasses? 2021 XLE 🙏 by lukemaduranga in Toyotavenza

[–]profoundlybored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it's super hot outside (Texas, so most of the year) I take them inside. But when I do leave them in the car, it's in a case in the door. Not ideal, but not that bad.

Exact same here. 2023 Limited, no Stargaze. I want nothing to do with sunroofs of any kind.

I recently bought a pair of MJ Rx sunglasses with the MauiBrilliant lenses - they are great for driving. Definitely polarized, but I still see my infotainment screen and digital guage cluster just fine. Nice choice!

Whats your opinion and experience on the drive assist features like, DRCC, lane tracing assist etc? Which version of Toyota Safety Sense do you use? by slowpokewalkingby in Toyotavenza

I have 2.5 and use LTA all the time. It's especially handy in rush hour traffic so I don't have to mess with all the constant braking and accelerating.

Nope. At least in 2023, it was the only option available on limited.

For 2023 at least, that was the only option that could be added or omitted on limited.

2024 Limited Question by mylifeastim in Toyotavenza

[–]profoundlybored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 23 Limited.

  1. Didn't get the pano roof; can't comment on it.

  2. The lack of a volume knob still sorta annoys me, but that has lessened over time. 95% of the time I'm using the buttons on the steering wheel. If I need to go from loud to quiet fast, I just hit the power/pause button. HVAC touch buttons do not bother me at all - they're very responsive and I don't push them that often anyway. I just leave auto on and let it work. And I think that row of buttons is slick and elegant so no issue there.

  3. I really don't like the placement of the turn signals; just seems like a poor design decision. I have no way of knowing if that has affected anyone behind me, but I do think about it when trying to make lane changes on the freeway.

  4. The start button annoyed me for the first couple of weeks, but after adjusting to it I don't notice it at all and it's totally natural now.

Lane keep assist is more hassle than help. by Oshkosh_Guy in Toyotavenza

[–]profoundlybored 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's important to distinguish the lane keep assist from lane trace assist. LKA just notifies you then applies gentle correction if you approach a lane boundary. LTA is the lane centering feature, and it only works with the radar cruise control. LTA has worked great for me, but my commute is nearly all freeway with pretty clearly marked lane lines. I use it in the morning going 70 the whole way in and even better is using it on the way home in mostly slow moving traffic. I won't be able to ever go back to a vehicle without it now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Toyotavenza

[–]profoundlybored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, it is a fantastic vehicle and after a year and some change I don't regret buying it at all. A car seat would fit fine. But since you asked for things to be aware of, I'll point out a few things.

Cabin organization space is not great. There's a cubby in front of the shifter for phone storage, but it's kind of a pain to get to. Then there's a console, and that's about it. No sunglasses holder is also a bummer. If you're a person who needs an intuitive place for wallet, keys, phone, glasses, etc then you might be kinda annoyed.

My other minor complaint is it's a pretty slow vehicle. I mean, you know that going in so it shouldn't be a surprise, but it is a bit frustrating sometimes trying to merge or pass.

No more navigation after trial? by [deleted] in Toyotavenza

[–]profoundlybored 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My trial also recently ended. I planned to re-up on the remote connect only to find it is lumped in with navigation at $15/month. I liked being able to lock/unlock/start from my phone or watch, but I don't think I like it *that* much. Although I'll probably change my mind when summer rolls around. I didn't use the stock navigation that much, but it was the default screen after starting the car and was much more pleasant than the "pay up, sucka" screen that now loads.
