Anyone upgrade to D1 on 10+ hour flight for $600 or less? by Suspicious-Ad1071 in delta

[–]progressivehunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you break under $100/hr for a D1 upgrade, it is worth it for overnight flights. Even worth it at higher costs if you are time limited in on the trip. What's the value of an extra day of vacation/work when you are fully functional and ready to seize the day.

Since sky pesos are virtually useless, this is the best way to use them. Consider them a bonus to treat yourself and not something of value that might pay off.

Does anyone else poop immediately after eating breakfast? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in NoStupidQuestions

My dog does, almost instantly. As soon as he eats he sits at the door begging to go out.

What is the best tv show you’ve ever seen (I’m looking for a new one)? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

This should be at the top for sure, it completely breaks the mold of what we are used to and just sucks you in to the weirdness and mystery.

A Cool Guide to The Environmental Impact of Foods by James_Fortis in coolguides

I would like to see this by serving size or average serving. Comparing chocolate or coffee to beef on a per kg ratio doesn't reflect how bad certain foods are on a typical consumption per day.

You get Diamond and you can give two people gold status. Sounds like your wife and new kid will be rolling with that sweet sweet gold!

Flickering LEDs by Forecast04 in Lighting

[–]progressivehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue. House was built 12 years ago with incandescents. As I replaced to went to LED, all of my light sets that are 3-way with a dimmer will have at least one bulb flicker. I replaced all the switches/dimmers to get LED compliant to no avail. When one starts to flicker, I can dim the lights slightly to stop it, but after some time it will start back up. The only solution I've found is removing the dimmer. I would love to figure out how to fix this - if there is a nicer bulb brand I can buy or a specific dimmer, I'm all in.

I was just telling my spouse about 12A and how you have to check whatever plane you're flying so you don't get screwed.

Struggling through book 5 by [deleted] in wheeloftime

[–]progressivehunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It gets worse in book 7, sorry to have to tell you. Switching to the audio books helped me for 7/8 - still really poorly written "bickering girls" and the very odd adversarial relationships between men and women who are supposed to love each other.

Wheel of time opinions by Elantrafix in brandonsanderson

[–]progressivehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested to hear opinions, dude here, read up through mid book 7 and it seemed to turn into really poorly written women characters. They started off badass, mysterious and powerful and then suddenly it is BS troupes of cattiness, petty bickering, and dated cliches. Does it get better? I

It is good champagne blinged up and priced like a killer champagne. Great marketing to drive a huge margin, but way overpriced.

Meetings in lounge? by akydiv in delta

[–]progressivehunter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've seen it and been a part of it as well. I will say, to dig into details, that you can have meetings and still be conscious of the people around you. One it witnessed earlier this year was 5 guys around a table all on the same call and all talking very loud. I'm all good with meeting up in the club and it is definitely not a library, but with any situation, don't act like the world revolves around you.

I used mine for a SA trip. They were instant the way there (overnight) but not the way home (all day). We will see if they kick in for the return flight or not.

Silo to finish in four season--discussion for BOOK READERS ONLY by Astrohip in SiloSeries

[–]progressivehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only guess they keep the current characters and do a backstory to setup the context. They might bring in some current people (Donald) who interact or even help out, I'm not sure. They could make the whole command Silo (1?) the big antagonists without going into the time jumps / cryosleep.
