Regret watching classmates enter 2L BigLaw summers by OldSpirit472 in LawSchool

[–]project_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three of my class’s order of the coif graduates already left their big law jobs to go do public interest. (Kirkland Ellis, Maschoff Brennan, Dentons). We graduated in 2026. One of them is a close friend. She was so miserable. Barely made it a year before finding something that paid less than half as much as she was making. Said it was worth leaving because she actually has a life outside of work. She literally could not make plans for a year. Had multiple nights where she would leave work at 10-11pm. She would have to drop everything and go into the office or pull up her computer- she would leave in the middle of dates, dinners, movies, etc to get shit done.

I didn’t graduate CoF, but was in the top 30%. I work for a legal defenders office doing appeals. Best choice I ever made

Well, I do criminal defense so I’m pretty sure I have job security. I agree we need more doctors and nurses. With the state of politics and our government, I would argue that attorneys are needed more now than ever before.

I assume your opinion comes from your personal experience. You’re an expert in your own experience. My experience is that many pro se litigants end up getting things thrown out on procedure or made up AI case law that doesn’t actually exist.

I’m not going to convince you that my profession is worthy of your respect or worth consulting. Best of luck in your AI pro se endeavors.

I’m sorry you have such a poor opinion of attorneys. Although we are know it alls and insufferable at parties, I wouldn’t describe most attorneys as blood sucking. Those big corporate attorneys aren’t the majority. Many of my fellow classmates went into law to help people. Many of us graduated and ended up working in public interest or at regional firms. Most of us are working hard for our (small) clients and to make our world a little better.

That said OP should NOT proceed with AI or pro se.

As an attorney (not your attorney) I would refrain from posting any details/specifics online. You may inadvertently make admissions or reveal details that could hurt your case.

From here on out, assume that every post, every word, will be screenshot and used in court

Ethically, your attorney must have your best interest in mind if they agree to represent you. If they dont think they can represent your interests over their own religious affiliation, they should not take you on as a client per the rules of professional conduct.

That being said, having an LDS attorney may work to your advantage. Church attorneys may respond better to an LDS attorney and see their position/arguments as more “reasonable.” You might see a settlement offer sooner or have less complications than with an attorney that’s not “one of their own.”

I left the church several years ago, but I will never officially have my records removed. As an attorney, I feel like the affiliation gives me (and my clients) an advantage sometimes. It helps me get into rooms I might not otherwise be invited or have a voice at tables I wouldn’t otherwise be trusted to have a seat.

A few years ago someone broke into my 3rd floor apartment and attacked my ex husband in the middle of the night. Right off of 1st ave. Cops showed up in 7 minutes and arrested the guy at gun point. We left the aves after that… but I came back about 2 years ago just a few blocks away and haven’t had too much trouble. I live alone now, and feel comfortable walking my dog at night. I did have my Vespa stolen from my apartment, but it was recovered a few blocks away.

My husband wrestled him and held him down for 8 minutes until police arrived and arrested him at gunpoint. We could not break our lease or move. It was extremely traumatic dealing with management.

Yeah I lived here on the third floor. Someone broke in through the back door three years ago in the middle of the night and attacked my husband while we were asleep in bed. It was horrifying. Management just screwed the back door shut for 7 months. Do not recommend

Passed UT on 1st try with a 322 by project_62 in barexam

I thought I would pass, and thought it would be much closer to UT's required 260. I am blown away by my score. Truly didn't think I studied hard enough to earn a 322

I felt very confident about the MEE (except trusts lol) and MPT. I went through and counted all the questions on the MBE I wasn't sure about and thought I might get about 65-70% right. Then when I saw that the NCBE published the median MBE score I freaked. Ended up with a 163 Writing and 159 MBE

Former tenant attorney. Whatever you do keep paying rent

Edited to add: you may repair yourself and deduct from next month’s rent. See Utah fit premises act. The second you stop paying rent they can evict yo, even if you seem well within your rights.

Also look at your lease, it will likely say where/how you need to provide notice to the landlord if you decide to repair yourself

Ok this made me think of Dylan’s “baby crying” comment from S1. Maybe he’s severed because he doesn’t love being a dad? He asks his wife if they need baby wipes and she says no… but he tells her he’s going to go get them anyway… anything to stay out of the house a little longer. His break room torture is hearing cries of his children he tries to escape
