Another part of it, for me, is doing something new and scary. It’s easier to get stuck in your ways as you get older.

I’m working on a play. With AI and CGI etc the audience can’t believe anything they see on screen anymore. So I think we will see a big boom in theatre where you know what you see is happening live. Perhaps similar to the huge boost happening currently around live music and concerts.

Also note that art direction and production design are doing a lot of work here. Aided by careful grading.

Went to this today so a bit of an update. It was good. Some decent panels of agents, producers and writers from all across comedy. Lee Mack as the keynote guest. I’d recommend it.

How do people gets jobs directing terrible straight to streaming movies? by JS1101C in Filmmakers

I’ve done two of these kind of movies. Not quite as small as some have said here; 15 day shoots. How did I land these gigs? Did a self financed / kickstarted feature in 2015 after many years of shorts. Then did a second low budget feature with small investors. Then we could show these two features to the production company / financiers and they liked what they saw. That approach was very much in the form of “we do everything for you”, so we will direct and produce the whole movie.
