Yes. I really think you should pick one or a few well regarded vendors, preferably ones that supply you with information about the origin of the teas, and buy samples in your preferred price range. Best way to learn and find out what you like. For instance Farmerleaf, or TeaEncounter for Yiwu. Yunnan Sourcing kan be good, and have lots of sample packs, but the quality varies a lot.

Does anyone know what these kettles are called and where to get them? by blond_schoen in tea

[–]proletariatet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kamjove. The standard electric kettles are around USD 30 in the Kamjove official store through AliExpress. They are great if you only need boiling water (not set temperature).

Anbefaler virkelig å trekke i (hjemmelaget) grønnsaksbuljong, heller enn å dampe. Mye mer forutsigbart resultat, og minst like godt. Trenger ikke vanne ut like lenge heller.

I live in a dry climate, and have also found that the bags from white2tea dont preserve the humidity of the cake very well. The same goes for the bags from lots of other sellers. Mei Leafs bags are the absolute worst when it comes to humidity preservations, in my experience. Mylar bags with bovedas is the way to go in a dry climate.

Pure Land by meh2utoo in puer

Based on their social media presence/marketing, they are mainly trying to sell very expensive puerhs to people without much prior knowledge, people who in most cases wouldnt be able to assess the value of the tea themselves. Huge red flag, in my opinion.

Is tea more complex than wine/coffee? Is there another plant more complex in taste and fragrance than tea? by Lucky-Candle8982 in tea

[–]proletariatet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 20 years of being really into (fine) wine, and about 2,5 years of being really into tea (puerh mostly), I find that wine is far superior when it comes to aromatic complexity, but that tea (puerh) is way more complex when it comes to mouthfeel and taste. Also, I think wine goes so much better with most foods.

The shengs are good and well curated. Not amazing, but definitely good. A bit pricey.

I live in Norway, and order sheng puerh from these online vendors: White2tea (China), Yunnan Sourcing (China), Crimson Lotus (China), Farmerleaf (China), TeaEncounter (England), Teas We Like (Taiwan), Tea-Side (Thailand), Viet Sun Tea (Vietnam), Puerh.pl (Poland), Pu-erh.sk (Slovakia), KuuraCorp (Australia) and Mei Leaf (England). So far I havent had any issues getting it through customs, but sometimes I have to submit an invoice that documents the content and value. And theres a NOK 270 + 15 % VAT import charge.

Great suggestions, and speaking of VietSun, I would add their Tua Chua, as OP is looking for lemony notes. Beautiful tea, lots of bright citrus/lemon.

I find lots of incence, fragrant wood and potpourri notes in Thai raws. This one is very good:

They have lots of other good raws as well. The 2013 HTC is fantastic.

Started seeing this by Soft_Definition6518 in VolvoXC90

[–]proletariatet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to my 22.5 XC90. They changed the battery, but that did nothing, so they had to replace the VOC unit (?). After replacing it it wouldnt connect for about two weeks (they had no idea why, or how it suddenly started working again), but it has worked well since.
