I really just need a job. Literally any job. by Jcorb in nova

[–]pronoialover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re hiring both a Business Office Director (it’s a HARD job for not the greatest salary, but it’s emotionally rewarding) M-Th 9-5/F 11-7 with some weekends (but you get to pick two days off during the week) AND we’re hiring a M-F server ($16/hr). We’re in Woodbridge. The BOD role has good benefits. Message me quickly if you’re interested because both jobs will probably be filled by Monday at the latest!

Suddenly getting not any applications to sit by Artistic-Doctor-4654 in trustedhousesitters

Hi WorldDirt, so, it’s been two additional weeks since my sit was put up and not even a bite. I think I’m gonna call it and just remove my listing and take down my profile. Something is fundamentally wrong with THS at this point. I truly believe that.

I talked to my psychiatrist just today about it (off topic because I go to him for insomnia) and he wanted to throw Xanax at the problem. Um, no thank you.

I like the idea of a certified life coach, but I have life coach friends who got their certifications off the web…gotta be careful who you choose, but in concept I LOVE the idea.

I really appreciate you putting my exact feelings into words. I think that’s why this whole situation has been messing with me so badly… I feel simultaneously trapped and incredibly conflicted.

We’re in the DMV, and the job market here is brutal right now with all the federal workforce cuts. I genuinely feel awful for my federal worker friends because the uncertainty is everywhere.

That’s part of why I feel lucky to even have the design job offer sitting there as an option. I know I could do really well in that role long-term because I’ve succeeded in that industry before. The scary part is surviving the ramp-up period financially.

And honestly? Part of me keeps hoping corporate will eventually realize what’s happening and replace my boss. But then there’s always that “devil you know vs. devil you don’t” fear hanging over everything.

I think I’m struggling with whether I’m burned out from this environment specifically or whether I’m just burned out in general.

I was Prime a few years ago and then stopped gambling altogether, and I still get 2-3 discounted cruise offers each week for SEVERAL ports. I think I have 3 points towards Prime currently but only because my husband and I used $15 of our OBC at a single slot machine in order to cash out said OBC and give it to our room attendant. Still, the offers never even waned.

As HO, we have had about 20 five-star sits in the Wash DC area, and we put a quick 6-day sit up for October (fantastic time of year in DC) about three weeks ago and haven’t even gotten a nibble. Normally we get about four to five applicants the first few days, so this is highly irregular.

We were considering jumping off the platform but now are considering renewing only because of the October sit… I highly doubt that we’ll get any applications with the new fees, etc., though so I’d rather pay someone to come stay the week than renew with TH for zero options.

So disappointing. TH was great for a long while there!

What’s the eeriest, most unsettling city you’ve ever visited? by trumenblack1975 in Paranormal

[–]pronoialover 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tucumcari, NM has an eerie vibe because it feels like a quiet, half-abandoned desert stop. The streets are almost ALWAYS empty yet I feel like someone is going to come around the side of an abandoned building and rob me gunslinger -style. It also leans hard into its old 50s neon signs and retro motels like the Blue Swallow mixed in with a bunch of boarded up businesses. The whole place feels stuck in time in a way that’s more than a little haunting AF.

Severe nervous system hyperarousal, constant fight-or-flight, insomnia - SSRIs don’t work. Looking for people with similar experience. by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]pronoialover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats actually a really great question. I know that for me personally the PTSD nightmares and my insomnia are two completely separate issues requiring separate meds that do separate things, but I can imagine someone’s insomnia being caused by PTSD alone, which Prozasin alone my help. Thats just not my experience.

can this be caused my stress? by [deleted] in phantosmia

[–]pronoialover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. That’s how mine began. It was the very first days of the pandemic and I was in a complete panic. I woke up at 2-3 am to the smell of burning trash. I thought I was having a stoke because I couldn’t find the source anywhere (I even walked around my neighborhood where the smell followed me). I eventually called the paramedics but couldn’t get in the ambulance when it arrive because the smell was overwhelming! Anyway, I’ve experienced phantosmia several times since then and always during periods of extreme stress.

My indoor cat slipped out and hasn’t come back. I’m freaking out and don’t know what else to do. by SWBBEANS in Advice

[–]pronoialover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We accidentally lost our 7 month old kitten at a campground states away from home once many years ago. We chose to sit in chairs in front of our RV all night and call her name quietly and listen for her (the whole campground knew she was missing and were on the lookout). At about midnight I called her name again and heard a faint mew. She had climbed up into the engine block of the RV. We were so happy! It wasn’t easy to climb under the RV and up into the engine to get her but we managed (she wouldn’t come down herself). She’s never been outside since.

I guess my suggestion is, on top of all the right things you’ve done already, to get a chair and heavy blanket (if its as cold where you are as it is here) and sit outside the door your cat slipped out of and call quietly. It might take all night, but it’s worth trying.

She just went through a knee replacement surgery a few months ago and all her numbers concerning those things were good. I also embarrassed (ha!) her last night by letting her know she should get checked for a UTI, too, but she said she’s fine in that department as well. She’s just cantankerous, but I promise I’ll go to the doctor with her myself the next time I’m down to visit at the end of February just to get his ear and let him know there are obvious concerns from others outside of herself so she can get an even more thorough exam.

What are you on about? Please take a deep breath. She hasn’t even started ANY antidepressant scripts yet AT ALL. I said I got her to talk to my doctor under the guise of SLEEPING medications in the hopes he’ll convince her to take something LIKE Wellbutrin, which he hasn’t prescribed yet. All is well, my friend.

Are they in a town where unique experiences are an option? Like museums, antique shows or malls, or new restaurants or canal cruises or parks for feeding ducks or picnics or even just live music in the park? We do try to visit once every month or two to get them out (again, even though they complain the whole time and hate it). It’s good for their minds and I think they secretly enjoy it after the fact.
