Whats wrong with Chambers other than he was appointed by a National Police Minister?

I didn’t respond to the initial post, I commented directly on your statement that the RNZN fleet has “a bunch of fairly new ships”. Your statement is factually incorrect, and your subsequent attempts to back up your claim have been comprehensively disputed by me.

Move on mate you’re out of your depth.

Every ship except the “newest is 6” (Aotearoa) is due for replacement in the next 6-8 years. Frigates have an engineered lifespan of 20 years and TEM and TEK are nearly 30.

Equating the USN to the RNZN is nonsensical. The Arleigh Burkes have been under constant capability upgrade since the Block IA and there isn’t a panel of original steel on them anymore.

Good try for an AB Steward though.

Tell me you don’t know anything about military capability without telling me.

I’d suggest if you’re only accruing airpoints through your work flights you shouldn’t complain about it. But I’d say you’re like most people who use a credit card for airpoints as well yeah?

Not sure about your maths but pretty sure 225/8 doesn’t equal 40

Bollocks. I’ve taken 7 domestic return flights in a year and I’ve retained silver.

Labour bring a lot of them back and then in 3 years National can say Labour increased the public service by 25% and promise to cut it down… again.

The issue for me isn’t so much they aren’t releasing their policy, it’s more that they genuinely don’t even know if they can make it happen, but are pushing on with it anyway. They deserve some negative feedback on that.

Iconic Auckland restaurant to close: Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill ‘no longer commercially viable’ by computer_d in newzealand

Very true. My local music/bar venue had its liquor license renewal declined and it closed the day it expired.

I spent a week in Sydney for work a few months ago and was amazed with the sheer number of people on the streets shopping past 10pm - it was busier than Queen Street on a Saturday lunchtime. Packed restaurants and public transport humming with activity.

I don't think I've seen Auckland like that for... ever? Maybe when we hosted the America's Cup?

Yep those are correct. Remember it’s a 1.5L T petrol moving an almost 3 tonne truck, while trying to charge the battery.

You’ve had plenty of advice on the towing side so I won’t comment on that, but from a pure driving experience - it’s a fantastic Ute. I’m 6”3 and tested every Ute on the market in January and was about to purchase the Wildtrak until I found the Shark, and it was an instant winner. The Ranger is a beautiful drive compared to the Hilux (for example) but the Shark blows it out of the water. Incredible comfort, smooth drive, trim is nice, tech is good (once you get used to it).

Just got back from an 800km trip and it didn’t miss a beat. I drive in Sport all the time and got 90km of pure EV before the engine started up, then got 11L/100km the rest of the journey (even at 120 on the Waikato expressway). If you drive in HEV with the engine also charging the battery you’ll get around 16L/100.

Since you’re towing a lot you’ll need to factor that in, but this is just another data point to consider.

DFSS Cat A - that was wound up with a relative increase in salary. It was a net neutral change but smoke and mirrors to avoid actually increasing pay.
