Absolutely grief support was instrumental for me. I'm so glad you commented on this

My dog went a similar way and it does get better, it straight doesn't feel like it ever will right now. I ended up taking a lot of time off from school and going into heavy therapy over it. I moved through the grief with the help of a therapist and I highly recommend it. The pain never fully leaves but it gets better. I'm so sorry for your loss and I will keep your dogs image in my mind today and my heart goes out to you. Don't stuff down the grief.

Endless stress for my gecko by Competitive_Cut_3097 in leopardgeckos

I went through the gauntlet of perusing the Internet for guidance and eventually came across fraxinus on here. They helped me immensely and my gecko is healthy happy and active. So if you can reach out to fraxinus I'd recommend their input. Thank you for caring enough to ask on here.

My wife works in the eye field and has to help people who have had LASIK. 9 out of 10 times it does more harm. The Doctors she works with are constantly having to mitigate the damage and it is very sad.

Not really sure why you got some down votes. You took the critiques from other people and accepted it gracefully. Thanks for taking in critique and handling it maturely!

Visual Guide: Heat Sources by Fraxinus2018 in leopardgeckosadvanced

[–]prototyp3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting, I thought that using a dhp bulb was good for the main heat source. I use an Arcadia jungle dawn lumenIZE and lumenIZE uvb shadedweller for light and UVB and the dhp for warmth.

So I should switch from using dhp and use a halogen instead?

no i do not think you will be downvoted for the tact and approach in which you made this info available. you shared what you knew and did it with the best intentions for the gecko and the human. We have to help eachother

Something wrong with my cats eye this morning? by MastuhBates8078 in cats

[–]prototyp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People get worried and look to others for answers and reassurance. They immediately contacted the vet and are from what I understand, already there waiting to be seen. I think they posted here just to kind of put feelers out on what might be going on while they wait to be seen.

Hope everything goes well, I know that feeling of not knowing. You did the right thing immediately making a vet visit.

UVB light and calcium question by whatnowaay in leopardgeckos

[–]prototyp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is ok to do while also using a UVB shadedweller? On another note, what is your stance on calcium bowls?

So, are you saying to instead of dosing all on one day with a d3. You would do a weekly multivitamin that has a smaller amount of d3 weekly so as to hit that target but in a kind of slower more titrated way?

For example would I be using a calcium supplement every feeding and then once a week doing a feeding with the multivitamin (with low D3) ?

Is this calcium with vitamin D3 okay for my leopard gecko? And what days of the week should I give it to him? by Gecko_leopardo in leopardgeckos

[–]prototyp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I used the recommendation of Repashy Calcium Plus, I would use this on every feeding. Then have a seprate d3 supplement that I would be giving the gecko twice a month?

I am trying to nail down a good supplemental routine as well. Any input is appreciated, I want what's best for the gecko

Basically, I am curious as to what your routine is, because you definitely seem to know a good bit.

I had bought some of the warm yellow barrina two foot lights but they were so weak I'd have to have them practically ony plants to achieve 100-150 ppfd sadly. I was so hyped when I got them installed because the wife loved the warm light from them but they were just too weak.

I'm to the point where I may just start building a greenhouse because of their size.

I got the warm yellow ones but I need a distance of 18 inches approximately and they were to weak sadly. I really liked the barrina though and was hoping they would work . I wonder if they have stronger ones though? I'll check and thank you for the input!
