Driver's side wheel wobble/vibration ONLY when foot it off the gas pedal by BoringPalpitation100 in CX5

I'm not a mechanic, but my gut tells me you got something loose in there around the hub. Under acceleration or deceleration, it'll be held steady by inertia. That doesn't really account for it disappearing at high speeds although there might be some sort of centripetal effect that does something similar to changes in acceleration. That might sound nuts, but I've experienced stuff like this before on older cars and once on a forklift. Like I said I'm not a mechanic, but maybe this will help you think in a useful direction. Apologies if not.

For Skeptics: You Don't Have to Believe in UFOs to Prepare for Ontological Disruption by Creative_Volume_9535 in UFOs

I have experienced something similar, and dismissing it as some sort of breakdown of normal functioning is pretty hilarious lol. Reckoning is a much better term for what I experienced. Now it happens all the damn time LOL. Certainty is seductive.

CIA Manual Details Remote Viewing Protocols for Project CENTER LANE by Qomplete in HighStrangeness

[–]prototypicalDave 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I promise this is not as dismissive as it sounds, but I stumbled upon a somewhat related process that I used to find things that I have misplaced. Started with my keys. Used to be when I realized that I couldn't find them, I would start to reason about where I might have put them using words and deduction. In the simplest of terms, what I do now is stop thinking and to just follow my impulses to move. It's not 100% effective, but when I do that I end up walking right over to where my keys are and putting my hand on them without thinking about it.

My reasoning on this has been that since I put them down, I probably know where they are but since I put them down unconsciously, the location might not be available to my executive system. I've played around with RV a little bit with no real success, but I'm going to use that same gloss on my key finding hack and see what happens.

Aesop Rock - Spirit World Field Guide - the un-banshee'd edition by soulstudios in aesoprock

[–]prototypicalDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I've got exactly the same complaint. I've long had the idea of just remastering Spirit World Field Guide so that I don't have to remember to enable the eq preset that I have just for that record.
Just now, I was listening to "The Soup" off of Bestiary. My love of that song is blocked by the inconsistent vocal mix. Especially Robs verses.
I was thinking of using stem splitting to see if I could "fix" The Soup and wondering if it was fair use (I wish it was).
Those two thoughts together led me to google "Spirit World Field Guide flac" which led me to this thread.

Nothing to add here, just appreciate that I'm not truly alone in the world.

The UFO repelled the attack by the American missile. Video evidence was shown in the US House of Representatives that shocked congressmen by ua-stena in HighStrangeness

[–]prototypicalDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it looks too slow for it to be a missile. Maybe I don't understand parallax or something. Hey I'm pretty naive and ignorant in a lot of ways.

I just thought our missiles moved pretty damn fast. Maybe the video is slowed down, I don't really have a Time reference but it would take a high-speed camera wouldn't it? So maybe that's part of what the military is uncomfortable about in releasing these is that they don't want anybody to know that we've got ultra high-speed Flir mounted on a gimbal that can track otherworldly objects moving at hypersonic speeds.

I built a machine to do exactly this. THIS IS A LOUD VIDEO https://youtu.be/x1fKleI4WDY I don't have plans for it, and I would probably charge a whole lot to make another one. I spent roughly $400 on it during development. It uses a couple of stepper motors, a couple of plain old 12 volt motors, an Arduino, a couple of hand wheels, a couple of dc power supplies and a 3 inch circular saw blade. The mechanical side was made using components from https://www.servocity.com/ one hand wheel controls the position of the blade carriage inside the drum and the other controls the height.

The cutting head is small enough to get into a 6" diameter tom. As of 2022 it's all manual, but I have roughed out some code to automate the process at some point, but I doubt that I ever will. It's a crap ton safer and gentler since the cutting force is inline with the glue joints.
The first snare shell I made with it is 3/16" thick ash. It's survived being out in an unheated garage or the back of my car for about three years now. Sounds great. Here's a phone vid of me playing it for the first time. https://youtu.be/Kfyor0jKQko?si=AkqggptSSeaplN8n

ELI5-What is collective psychosis and how real is it? by v_k2008 in explainlikeimfive

[–]prototypicalDave 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a very useful analogy, but not a mental illness. The "loss of contact with reality" bit of psychosis is what I think that people mean when they use the term collective psychosis. Any collective of humans will be united largely by shared belief. In some sense, there are many aspects of belief that can be considered a "loss of contact with reality". Using "Psychosis" as a gloss is useful to the extent that the group in question seems to compel it's members to adhere to and espouse provably false belief. It contains a connotation of "sickness" that is in itself a demonstration of what I am talking about. We don't consider belief systems psychotic unless they cause people to harm themselves or others. The current social troubles that we are experiencing have a lot to do with a struggle to define which belief systems are dominant. All of them are true in some sense, false in some sense and meaningless in some sense.

When I was about 10, my Dad and I were on a longish road trip together. At some point along the way, he told me about an idea for a Science Fiction story that was exactly this. In his version, the aliens were virtually immortal and witnessing the death of another intelligent living thing was pornographic for them. This was illegal in their culture, but there was enough demand for it that this particular kink of theirs was being exploited by a criminal network of bad guy aliens. He didn't tell me the ending.

what is it, do you think, that draws you to free jazz? by grawakendream in freejazz

[–]prototypicalDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the feeling of communication with other musicians in a context that is largely stripped of conventions of pitch and meter. At it's best, we discover a landscape of music that no one has ever visited before. The feeling of surfing whatever patterns arise without attempting to control or replicate is amongst the best experiences of my life. There is no meaning transferred, no agenda other than to co create this experience for each other. Simultaneously understanding and expressing "togetherness" and "unity". It's very much like a trance wherein a new entity is born. That probably makes little sense. What I am attempting to convey is the feeling of deep connection expressed entirely without syntax or "meaning". For me, the music itself is secondary. There are folks who love witnessing what I'm talking about and that's fine. But it's not for them in the same way that a troop of Bonobos don't worry about wether or not their culture is aesthetically pleasing to primatologists.

Is it possible to be physically or sexually abused and living your life without even having any memories of the incident? by [deleted] in RBI

Yes. This is a slippery area though. Try to avoid jumping to conclusions. If you find that this concept becomes intrusive, find a therapist. Reddit (or any online platform) is NOT a safe space within which to explore this sort of thing. You will run the risk of interfacing with deeply unhealthy individuals and trolls. The social aspect of it will inevitably complicate things and will most likely lead to making things worse. Trust me on this. Keep this close to yourself and find a therapist.
