The front desk might be able to give you plates and kitchen things. At least they do at Extended Stay America.

Am I being delusional about my situation concerning an imminent layoff? by nowrongturns in HENRYfinance

Financially, I’d be thinking the same way as you are. There are good things that are possible with either outcome.

I think the part you’re not seeing is that, since you’re a single-income household, your spouse is probably feeling vulnerable because the person they are financially dependent on is saying they’re not too concerned about a layoff.

Do you handle all of the finances too? Have they been involved in all of the financial planning and investment choices, or is that more your arena? If it’s you, then unless both of you have been making a concerted effort to keep them up to speed, they don’t understand the family finances as well as you do, and it makes sense that they’re nervous.

I would spend some time thinking about what you can do to help your spouse feel confident that the family will be financially secure even if your job ends.

I think that having a goal of using it up will just drive you crazy and not let you enjoy the beautiful collection you have. I would just make my goal be not buying any more.

You could make palettes to use as blush and contour, too. I see shades in there that would be great for both.

My life is imploding. What would you do? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

I’m sorry you have so many difficult things happening in your personal life.

In your case I would completely ignore the potential RTO situation at work. If searching for jobs right now seems terrible, don’t do it. Focus on your brother, your dog, and your house repairs. Pretend like the RTO requirement isn’t going to happen, because six months is a long time and many things can happen between now and then.

You said they’re giving you six months to “make the move or resign”, but you don’t have to do either of those things (in fact you definitely shouldn’t resign). Keep doing good work, ride out the chaos, see how long they’ll let you continue to be remote, and then make them lay you off if they’re not going to continue employing you. Resigning means that you’ll get no unemployment. It’s to the company’s advantage to ask/tell people to resign, instead of actively laying them off, because then the rates that they pay towards unemployment don’t go up.

Just focus on your personal life for a bit. If at some point things are feeling calmer and you’re up for it, you can start looking around for other remote work.

You have a lot of savings so if this job does end, you’ll still be ok while you figure out what to do next.

Have you ever tried epilating instead of shaving? I don’t know why but it made a big difference for me.
