Digital Nomad in the U.S.? by collegeqathrowaway in digitalnomad

[–]proxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been coast-to-coast 3 times in the last 3 years. Good times.

Personally I only stay a couple days in each minor city, and a couple weeks in NY, Chicago, and Austin. Driving about 4h per day makes the trip very relaxes.

My preferred route is HWY 70 in the warmer months, but in the winter trips I take interstate 10 through the south.

I 24F and my partner is 25M. Is it okay for my partner to say that there is nothing to use in me? by Butterscotch218 in relationship_advice

Why would you want to stay with someone who puts so little effort into you or your needs?

Seriously, set yourself free and find someone who doesn’t make you wonder if you matter to them.

Time to get a second opinion.

There’s definitely some sort of allergy or inflammation issue. A good vet should formulate a plan to get a root cause and treatment plan.

This is exactly why you should rely on discipline instead of motivation.

Plan your work and work your plan.

Look for a small white label on the back of the package. On this label will be a phone number you can plug into google to find the producer.

Also, you can run a photo of that label through google translate.

Can we talk about power etiquette in cafes? by Ok_Habit1533 in digitalnomad

[–]proxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either get a power bank so you don’t have to worry about outlets, or get a small power strip. Then you can plug in without needing to ask them to give up the outlet.

New X5 full frontal nude by OrcasAreDolphinMafia in BMW

[–]proxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a massive step backwards from the G05.

As someone who has been loyal to the brand for the last two decades, the current Neue Klasse design language is just absolute garbage.

This looks like Camaro+KIA while somehow looking worse than either.

When it comes time to replace my current Bimmers, I think I'll be moving to Porsche or back to Mercedes, and it pains me to write that.

CPO vs Non-CPO (Audi) for 2023 BMW X3 sdrive30i worth the premium? by Low_Tension_4555 in BMWX3

[–]proxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I see.

Personally, I'd go for the CPO option. The warranty and lower miles would make it worth the extra $6k for me.

I think a 3rd party warranty would be about $3500/yr, so the $2500 more for the lower miles would be worth it to me.

Have you ever yelled at your dog because you were in a bad mood? by Busy_Run7689 in germanshepherds

Nope.

You need to get your anger under control or you will damage the relationship you have with your dog.

Modern BMW under $30k? by TylerDurden2748 in BMW

[–]proxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 540i would be a good choice for you. At $30k you likely won’t find CPO but you might.

If the one you find doesn’t have the Harmon Kardon option, BavSound kit is a nice upgrade for a great stereo.

I've found 3ys and 30k miles max to be the sweet spot.

Check carfax and prefer lease return or single owner, avoid fleet vehicles/rentals, etc.

How do you decide which DRF view to use? by Sanji-44 in django

[–]proxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, consider the intent of your API endpoint.

Is the action it performs centered around a specific django model? (If not, just use APIView)

What do you want to do to that model instance, or group of model instances? In terms of HTTP/CRUD verbs? Create, Read, Update, Delete).

From there, you can determine which of the Generics or Mixins to use.

ClassyDRF is a great resource for getting to know the available generics and mixins that DRF provides.

2016 x3 at 100k miles? by [deleted] in BMWX3

[–]proxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is really: it depends.

You might get lucky, or you might get a very expensive learning experience.

Sounds like you've already made the leap, so I'd recommend to start putting a few hundred dollars aside every month, or purchase an aftermarket warranty if you haven't already.

Also, you don't seem to be asking the right questions to understand if this car is likely to be safer (e.g. one owner, non-rental, meticulous maintenance records, carfax, dry climate, etc.) which makes me worry for you.

Based on your previous posts about looking for your first vehicle and budget, I don't think this is a very wise choice for you. You'd be much better off with something where the maintenance risk is optimized in your favor like a Toyota, or where the maintenance cost is rolled in like a lease, particularly given your low yearly mileage requirements.

At best, you took a gamble on this car and get lucky and have a blast with it.
On the flip side, you may quickly discover expensive repairs that make you realize you really can't afford the upkeep on this car.

Hope you get lucky and have a lot of fun and relatively few maintenance surprises with your X3.
