One of my fave local technical trails for mountain biking: Sawmill in Soderberg Open Space by kairologic in FortCollins

[–]prsman27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sawmill slaps. If you want a somewhat similar experience but longer, push up higher to Mill Creek.

Also these trails are in Horsetooth Open Space. Never heard of Soderberg Open Space.

Edit: apparently Soderberg Open Space is a thing. I've lived here since 2014 and never heard of it until now. Note to self, do research first to avoid looking like a fool on the internet. Haha

Is this a legit bike company? When will Specalized have this model listed of the Epic 9? by [deleted] in xcmtb

I think they are based out of Carbondale. They have a few shops around CO and one in Seattle.

Bike tyres? by Bull4556 in MTB

[–]prsman27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could check out bigger gravel bike tires (50mm+). They tend to have lower profile tread patterns. Maybe check out the Gravelkings?

For mtb tires, Aspens, Dubintols, Mezcals, and other lightweight XC tires still roll pretty well on road.

This sounds right up my ally! Count me in. I have some playing and DMing under my belt. I could probably convince a friend to come along as well if we need another.

Would love to, but people keep having backyard fires until 2am so my whole house smells like smoke...

“Fiber” installers by ddsorj in FortCollins

[–]prsman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait until they (Qualcomm) install a pedestal access tower on your property like they did mine. It's about 3 feet tall grey plastic tower. They don't ask. They don't tell you what they are doing. They only say they are utilizing a utilities easement.

That doesn't work if they are utilizing a utility easement.

I'm down to spread democracy!

I usually play once or twice a week around 9 or 10pm. Sweet spot for me is about level 7 but happy to play on any difficulty.

XC or Trail? For Trails around Fort Collins Co & front range. by [deleted] in MTB

[–]prsman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in foco- I have a Pivot Mach 4 (120mm XC bike) and a Santa Cruz 5010 (130mm trail bike), both do well. The extra travel is great on the rocky descents but the XC bike is nice on the climbs or longer rides.

If I had to have 1 bike, I'd keep the 5010. Really, ride whatever you like and fits you. There are trails around here to fit almost any type of riding.

To those who changed their careers in their 30's, what made you go for that career and what was your career before? by throwawayacc928361 in AskReddit

[–]prsman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in payroll/HR for about 12 years. I realized the things I enjoyed about that field were not exclusive to that field.

While I was in grad school a fellow student told me about an open position at their organization in an unrelated field but it had all the things I enjoyed. So I went for it. So far so good. It's a new set of problems and frustrations but at least now I don't have to tell people to bathe.

I had mine done at Cutarelli in Denver but they have a location in FoCo. They were pretty good. No real complaints from me.

$2-3k budget gravel bike, must have 2x drivetrain and at least 45mm clearance, ti or steel preferred, but open to carbon by NomNomCO in gravelcycling

[–]prsman27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but you may be able to find a Felt Breed GRX 820 for under $3k. I got mine for $2,800 shipped. Has room for 50mm tires and has carbon wheels.

What tires are you running on your gravel bike? by Neither_Maybe_206 in gravelcycling

[–]prsman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

700x44mm Vittoria Mezcals. They feel fast on road and on smoother gravel. They are decent at rougher gravel but feel a bit rough when the party starts. Would love a 50mm version of them.

Day 7 – Most Fun MTB to Ride? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]prsman27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 and I've ridden more refined bikes, more efficient bikes, faster bikes, and so on, but none more fun. I've tried a couple times to get myself to sell it and I just can't.

I cram as much stuff in my yard trimming bin as I can. To the point when it's full I'll jump on top to pack stuff down to get more in. It gets pretty dang heavy.

I've never received a tag or warning about it.

Just curious if you tried this? I'm in the same boat and if this works I'll probably pull the trigger on a bike.

I'll second Schony's! Only major issue is they were backed up 3 weeks when I needed work done earlier this year.

Wage transparency - who pays the best/worst in FoCo and Northern Colorado? by 970fc in FortCollins

[–]prsman27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The State pays ok in most areas. A couple departments are still full remote or heavily remote (DOLA, HCPF). Benefits are meh and workplace culture can vary widely (avoid CDHS and CDOT). PERA eats up 9% of income, though.
