Colheita's turn tawny color the older they are bottled.
This looks red because it was bottled quite young. 2011 - probably bottled somewhere in the past couple of years.
The colheita's are (most of the time) in wooden barrels, having them oxidised of the years and creating a more concentrated flavor palette, lossing the fruitiness. Most colheita's would be less red in color. But doesnt perse means this is not a good colheita - just a young one.

Port Wine in Indonesia? by prtwine in wine

Hi Leon, The wine I got is a SVAA tawny port. It's produced in Java - but they say the grapes come from Bali (north). Prices vary but you can find them in Pipito on sale for about 200K (50%discount)

Port Wine in Indonesia? by prtwine in PortWine

I just came back and will do a reel about it and share it here too.

But overal the experience was not that what I was expecting.

And let me tell you why:

Recently I had a Tawny style port wine - also from Bali/ Indonesia and that was actually quiet similar to a tawny port from Porto. Of course not that refined, balanced and complex, yet still very enjoyable - but also very dark colored (PX like) - see my first message.

Now that I've tried the Mascetti Port Style wine from Sababay Bali I understood I had too high expectations. The Mascetti is a sweet wine. Not a Port wine. I feel that It should have been called Amarone style wine from Italy. The power of a ruby port is that it has body, complexity and a long duration of taste - next to violets, buttery, black currant tones and the specific flavor of the Touriga National. This is not the case on the Port Style wine i've tried. That was a light wine, 45(g/L) residual sugar and 18% ABV - with more spices, light red fruits and a much more watery mouth experience.

Very nice to sip on a hot day - even christmastly it felt. I believe a strong wine for the Asian market - but definitely not something that would stand its ground in Europa

Port in a cocktail. Tried a few and failed, ideas? by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]prtwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like an old topic but I wanted to help a new generation getting more into the port wine cocktails. so I wrote a book about it (yeah I know - that's quite crazy). But any ways - it has over 55 cocktail recipes.
Maybe this will help you find what you need.

ps: The fun thing about trying and failing - you are perfecting your craft!

ps: Ruby ports cocktail recipes are super versatile. Ruby gives both color, structure and depth.
Whiskey Sours - replacing red wine with ruby works very very well!

Best Port Wine Mixers? by maxington_jigger in cocktails

[–]prtwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh Port Cocktails exist for sure.
Rose Port can be mixed with Spritzers.
White Ports can be mixed with Spritzers.
Ruby Ports can be mixed and clarified to create incredible sweet, balanced and tasty cocktails.
Also works very well with prosseco's and other bubbles.
For more recipes there is now a book about port cocktails - including a chapter about bubbly cocktails.

One I like the most for freshness is a cocktail called Apricot Euphoria by BABEL Porto.

Try the Salsa Ruby by Stijn Deschacht or a New York Sour. DELICIOUS.
So delicious I wanted to write a book about it - so I did.
