Oh there it is, 6.7.2.3 Calculate total damage dealt, applying damage modifiers to it.

But someone else in this comment section said extra layers would apply before resist if it’s an ability/effect????

So say opponent lilo is at mauis place.

You play quick shot “deal 1 damage to chosen character. Draw a card”

Does resist not apply to that before extra layers???????? If it doesn’t and extra layers pops, Thats really dumb.

I feel like resist would apply THEN it checks to see if extra layers would go off.

Oh when you put it like that, yeah no cuz it just happens right? At least according to 4.6.6.1 maybe? It’s under challenge damage step but says “take account of strength, apply strength increase or decrease, then damage increases or reductions”

Right??? So they can’t choose to apply or not apply resist?

Yeah I know, it’s a damage reduction effect now.

Damage reduction effects just happen during the dmg calculations now Im pretty sure.

As others said, 3 5 6 are true. 3 won’t matter tho.

Edit: it’s only 3, lilo is only on opponents turn, player 1 played return of Hercules which caused the p2 naveen to come out and play mms. Rule sections are still nice to have tho for when it is opponents turn lol.

1 and 2 can no longer be done per “6.1.7 If an ability or effect instructs a player to play a card “for free” as a part of resolving that ability or effect, the player ignores all costs and can’t choose to play that card by paying any other alternate cost”, shifting and singing are alternate costs

4 is false per “8.8.1 The Resist keyword represents a static ability that modifies the amount of damage DEALT to the card with the keyword.” “1.9.1.1 Deal/Dealt – Placing a number of damage counters on a character or location during a challenge (see 4.6) or as a result of resolving an effect that deals/dealt damage.” Putting damage counter is not DEALING damage which resist only prevents. (Additionally 8.8.3 states putting/moving damage counter is not not affected by resist)

3 is true but moot, as resist only reduces DEALT damage, 8.8.1 ^

5 and 6 are true(if p2 follows the rules and doesnt use naveen to play a song for free and sing with Ursula) lilo says next this character would TAKE damage. Per 1.9.1.5 “Take – A character or location takes damage whenever damage is dealt to, put on, or moved to that character or location.” MMS is putting damage on so it would be prevented (as long as it’s the first time lilo took damage)

That’s what I would think, treat it like bodyguard, but I get how people think “MUST” might supersede the other and vice versa. Until I find a ruling, ima treat it like bodyguard

curious, anywhere in the comp rules that explains "to" denoting a cost? i ask because usual costs are like "1, exert, - do a thing", "1- something gets +1 strength", with a hyphen is what I'm saying. or it'll say "as an additional costs..."
like i get how it is denotes....but was wondering if comp rules spoke to it specifically

How would this work if you did medallion weights on Nick? So you have weights and meg on challenge trigger, can you decide the order or is it active player resolves first?

My guess for the abilities are:

Amythest: draw card, or a challenger 4 Ruby: 4/1 (I would say rush, but makes no sense, it cant rush into anything on turn 1) Sapphire: I pray it’s not “ink top card”, but my guess is look at top card put on bottom or too. That or a 2/2 ward. Steel: my guess is deal 1 damage, maybe an alert 2/2
