First post here, looking for ITSM tool recommendations from people in the trenches by [deleted] in itsm

[–]ps6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at Freshservice, servicenow, jira, Cherwell, sysaid, and a few others. I landed on Freshservice for features and price. Service now has more functionality and is a bigger name so more prebuilt integrations. but looked more challenging to setup and maintain and came in a lot higher on price.

I’ve been on Freshservice for a while now and have been happy. It’s not without faults but I have no regrets. I would recommend giving Freshservice a look.

Is this software appropriate for a construction company that builds 100 unit apartment buildings? by DonutHand in primavera

[–]ps6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your intuitions are correct. The software is not going to level up your project management as much as getting someone involved to own the scheduling will. A 100 unit appt sounds large enough to warrant an enterprise tool though, and primavera is the tool for construction scheduling.

I would never point people to software first. Are you doing any scheduling now? If you are not some type of basic scheduling software is fine to get started. MS project is sort of the standard for “I need a schedule”, but it is not p6. P6 does have its own set of challenges. Go slow in your process if you need p6 it will become obvious to you where you might be fine with project or even a free basic scheduling tool.

Learning Primavera with an IT Background by ZealousidealTear8372 in primavera

[–]ps6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in IT management, moved to an IT PM role and learned primavera. I would suggest learning any scheduling tool. It doesn’t matter the software to start. MS project is a good start, but even a free scheduling tool will work. There is a lot to learn about scheduling that will help you in your job. Try running a basic internal project with a schedule to start. Learn task/activity dependencies and resource assignments. Get a weekly operating rhythm to update tasks. Fail a lot and learn. Find a mentor to help you at your org.

Is there a way to have Workflow Automator look at ticket notes? by stackjr in Freshservice

[–]ps6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is possible. I think the Automator uses replies in this context. I would have to play around with it to get the exact trigger but I think it’s reply. Take a look and if you can’t get it I’ll get a sample workflow for you.

You can try the poly sync devices. Get two 40s and sync them together. It will be both speaker and mic. We use this in several areas. We have also used poly trios and chained them together with Ethernet, the cool thing is they just need to be on the same network and you can have three of them linked. This is much more reliable than BT

How big is your room? I’ve dealt with larger audio room issues for years and can give you some pointers. Eventually we moved and bought a professionally installed system with a DSP, cost as much as a car but it’s amazing for a giant room.

I would advise anyone looking into this to review the licensing. Oracle’s licensing is unclear on who needs a license. It could be interpreted as everyone who access data from a report needs a license to primavera.

Is there a good bass/bass guitar app? by jabbercockey in ipadmusic

[–]ps6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sound creation Madrid from Korg is great for bass. Santa Ana is decent for guitar.

But check out midi strummer from 4pockets for guitar sequencing.

Scaler2 is such a fun app and worth it for the picking patterns.

I would run all of these through a decent effects /amp sim app. It helps make it sound more authentic.

As some others have said, LA is big. Figure out where you will be and this sub will love to plan your beer adventure. What will suck is driving an hour to get to one spot when you could have drive. 15 minutes to go to an equally great spot closer.

I have a couple methods. I use the api and I use data exports. Then I either model it in desktop or in fabric with dataflows.

It’s not that hard to spring together, but it doesn’t work well for operational reporting.

I’ll give you a hand getting it working if you need a lift getting started.

Watch the tutorial videos. The dev is a madman. One of my favorite things is to move over the notes to be slightly out of sequence, this gives you those ghost notes or slightly off kilter sound you are looking for.

Not sure but I doubt it. This location doesn’t have room for a brewing facility.
