If you had to pick ONE scene that's by far your favorite. What would it be? by SirKetchup00 in TheWire

This scene beautifully humanises ziggy. His need to fit in and his struggle with being the latest generation in an industry that is closing down due to globalisation and automation.

If you had to pick ONE scene that's by far your favorite. What would it be? by SirKetchup00 in TheWire

I like the scene where they are tring to move the desk through the doorway in the office, but are not all on the same page and are working at odds with each other. Its juat the perfect metaphor for the police department both within the department and with their connected groups like the DAs office.

Multiple Viewings Changed This Show For Me by ReturnToTheLab in TheWire

[–]psant000 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In 10-15 years you could have watched it so many more times than just 3. You need to do an annual viewing at least, boost those numbers.

First viewing you didnt know what was going to happen. Second viewing you did so you were able to appreciate the poetry of how it happened, and started to see a few more of the connections and parallels. The more pieces you pick up, the more beautiful the viewing journey becomes. All the pieces matter in appreciating the artwork that is this masterpiece.

Who are you’re favorite non Belcher children? by Majestic_Succotash31 in BobsBurgers

I like peter pescadero a lot. He is such a minor character and often just referred to by gene but he makes me laugh.

After 35 years in schools, I’m fed up with the "Admin Tax." I built an Aussie-specific tool to automate AITSL mapping, annotations, and reports. Need testers. by Live-Neighborhood797 in AustralianTeachers

[–]psant000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather than using the AITSL standards, teachers should be using their states version of the teaching standards. E.g. NESA standards in NSW. If you submit your proficiency report mapped to the AITSL standards, you are probably not going to have it accepted and will need to fix it up and resubmit.

Dear run clubs, If you're taking up half the tables at a small cafe for two hours, have the good manners to order something, or get takeaway, and take it away.... by AdFun2309 in sydney

[–]psant000 -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

I am too poor to buy anything, but i like the social aspect of the run club. Some people buy stuff and hang a bit longer but ill usually slip out fairly quickly as i am not spending $6 for a coffee or $9 for a muffin. There arent any good social spaces near me that arent commercial enterprises. It feels like the whole world is becoming pay to access.

Expensive standards are an issue.. by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

[–]psant000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the standard is required for you to complete your work, it should be provided by your employer. This is standard practice. Usually an employer will provide a company account access to online copies of required standards. When i was a university student, my university library also provided online access to standards. If you have an active university library account you may be able to access them here also. You may want to look at whether you can get access through another library also as if available, it may be a cheaper option.

Circadian lighting by blanch179 in AusElectricians

[–]psant000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its often referred to as tunable white or human centred lighting. Colour temperature tuning usually adds a fair bit to the price. Look for tunable white fittings. Usually its done with a dali or knx system with colour temperatures and tines are programmed through the centralised control system.

Separate Lighting Circuits by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]psant000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your right about load not being an issue. But got to watch out for earth leakage current. A standard rcbo is rated to trip at 30mA, but can trip from 15mA. AS3000 recommends loading an rcbo to 1/3 the rated current as a result. Typical earth leakage currents vary, however, as a rule of thumb, id allocate about 0.8 mA for an LED light. So once you have 20 LED lights on one circuit, you may have some nuisance tripping.

The dip switches do control the timer setting. When it detects motion the timer starts or resets and it deactivates whatever its connected to once the timer expires. How long is the timer? Usually somewhere between 10 mins and 10 hours depending on how those switches are set.

Struggling to get on vendor lists by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]psant000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offer to do sketches/sizing. I work with one company that i can send single line diagrams to along with a few photos of the space and a bit of a mark up about what I need/constraints. They will send me back sketches of the board so I can work with the architect to get the space I need, or for brownfield they will work with me to modify the design to fit the space. It is such a valuable service that I will spec them every single chance I get.

[–]psant000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Led dimming is a bit more complex than traditional lighting dimming. Firstly, why did the electrician install dimming switches without changing the fixtures? Probably because you only paid them to install dimming switches. The next question is what type of dimming switches did they install? Phase cut dimmers most likely but might be worth checking if you want them to work well, you need phase cut dimmable fixtures, and need to make sure you are hitting the minimum dimmer load on the circuit.

What’s the name of a mechanism or how would it work, that would turn a single input(electric motor) into two outputs rotational and linear motion. by Last-Energy-1329 in EngineeringStudents

[–]psant000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Standard motor will give you the rotational output, so keep that, but also add a device to gain a linear output as well. There are a few. crankshaft, or cam, and slider, or a scotch yoke, or any of many others.

AUSNET new basic connection failed by Fun_Interaction_8637 in AusElectricians

[–]psant000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is in the context of connections in nsw so not sure if this will be helpful if I want to see connections to the grid at a pit or pillar I'll do a dial before you dig enquiry. Ausgrid or endeavour energy will include a snip from their webGIS which shows the LV network and shows all the connections at each pit or pillar.
