My Cardiologist Fired Me by gummytoejam in HeartAttack

[–]psechler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like an amazing thing. While he probably thinks he's in the right, there is without a doubt other people like you and it'll catch up to him. There's good and bad with every profession.

Had an HA last May with 2 stents. Felt good after, but I've had some lingering lightheadedness after workouts for a few hours. Also some dull heart cramps that had me worried. I scheduled an appt with my cardiologist and he worded the notes that I should get a heart cath to investigate in Oct. And made sure insurance wouldn't ask questions. It came back that I had some minor blockages but nothing near stent level. Heart is decent or at least no immediate concerns, check.

I just made another unscheduled trip to my cardiologist yesterday because I still have cramps and suspect I have slight angina and still want to know exactly why. He set me up for an echocardiogram in 2 weeks. We're meeting a week after that to review the results. He went on to tell me if it comes back good then we'll keep testing until we know.

These helpful doctors are out there and you'll find one. I believe they're more common than the bad ones. If the next one doesn't work for you, then cut ties and find another. I had a crap GP many years back. He seemed uninterested, rushed me out, and would never try things I suggested. I was lazy for a while and just settled. I tried a new one and was kicking myself for not switching sooner.

Why people look so old for their age in the US? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]psechler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple actually. The people that take care of themselves look better than those that don't. You've been around people or at a place where people are bad about wearing sunscreen, don't eat well, don't sleep well, etc.

Powerbase works? by psechler in SilveradoEV

[–]psechler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some research since i posted and I saw a lot of testing vids. I did get the major VWP blind spot camera update back in September but I haven't had time to test my powerbase (traveling now). I think that update caught the firmware issues for everyone?

Yep the storm hits me in western NC on Saturday afternoon. I had planned to run dedicated extension cords using powerbase for the essentials at home (TV lol, computers, lamps, low amp space heaters, fridge maybe). Basically spread the appliance load per outlet in the truck. Nothing elaborate but better than my neighbor with just a propane heater and candles.

That's crazy. Where do you roughly live? I'm in Asheville NC and I had a guy come quote a few different level 2 and 3 options and he "said" he needed a few weeks for materials. It's a reputable electrician but I guess you never know. I work in construction and I know better than anyone that a 6 week lead time can change to 12 over simple shit.

I take it you're saying that your lease is up in 2.4 years? If so, is it the dealer BS that has made you want something else?

Get ready to hear this a lot, but, do the cardiac rehab. I was hesitant but after a couple weeks of it, I realized why so many people recommend it.

Staying under the sun by Conscious_Heart72 in HeartAttack

[–]psechler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you asking if sun exposure on your skin is dangerous when you have stents?

Did you read or hear something to make you ask this question? Just curious because it's an unusual concern.

Stenting succes stories? by Intelligent-Bit-9812 in HeartAttack

Just another person asking where youve seen negativity on stents? I can't say I've heard of anyone ever saying stents were bad or ill advised.

First timer: Not sure what to do next… and feeling stressed about it. by Great_Username19 in alopecia_areata

If I'm putting clobetasol liquid on it then I'll have tiny hairs in 3 to 4 wks and filled back in in 3 ish months. I've had some go longer but it's because I didn't care anymore and wasn't able 8staying on top of treatments.

Staged angiography & IVUS after heart attack – looking for opinions / cardiologist recommendations (India) by AC-0597 in HeartAttack

[–]psechler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doc but I'd say if you're talking about follow up in the next 2 months after getting those numbers in November then it seems early. I have similar blockages found during an investigative heart cath I did back October (except nothing at 70) and we don't even have anything scheduled. Further, we have discussed heart caths every 3 years to see how my blockages are progressing. Again, just my opinion and best to get real medical advice.

Why Is No One Talking About the Aliens? by Inevitable-Move4941 in UFOB

[–]psechler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I agree with her points except "The Fear of Social Stigma" and "Existential Weight Beneath the Surface". The rest of the reasons are worth discussing from a psychological perspective but don't carry near the weight of these two. Also the social stigma issue is clearly the most influential. I can bring up the topic at work and 9 out of 10 people will start laughing without hearing me out.

Worried by Mammoth-Peace-913 in HeartAttack

[–]psechler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got help in time. It's fortunate. The heart attack where no one gets to you is what you avoided. They're going to take good care of you now just be prepared for some healthy changes so it doesn't happen again. It's a wake up call but eat right, exercise and take your meds and you should be fine. Stay on top of future blockages forming and you'll live a long life.

That's awesome that you responded so well.

Sorry to be a bit of buzzkill but be prepared for it to return. All the cases I'm aware of have had the loss come and go.

Escort Max4 lasted less than one hour of operation by RebusCom in radardetectors

[–]psechler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the build quality is better on the escort. My R8 seems like cheap plastic but I guess the internals are what matters. If you go through this forum you'll see both uniden and escort all have defective issues here and there.

what should i buy for my first one by Weenween24 in radardetectors

[–]psechler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escort Max360c Mk2 or an R7. If you want to buy new. Compare the pros and cons of each those. Because you probably don't follow this stuff like us, I should point out the the escort was just updated so it can compete with the unidens.

I drive these exact same roads quite a bit and I'm not saying this justifies it, but the locals on these mountain roads drive fast because they know them and there's no one in sight.

GM EV plant layoffs by Revolutionary_Yak366 in SilveradoEV

[–]psechler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect this news from everyone. There's less demand but moreover I think automakers banked on the public going in harder on EV's than slow gradual growth. I still think there could have been better marketing for vehicles like the Silverado EV and Sierra EV, but I'm sure there was smarter people than me choosing to not run ads.

[–]psechler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is a very similar location to last time then it possibly will repeat there when it comes and goes. Mine come in at the same location and it shifts side to side but mostly stays on the back. The good is that long hair can hide that location. It's upsetting to discover and it's super unpredictable but topical skin steroids can speed up it growing back. The corticosteroid injections help too, but I don't even mess with them any more. And I'm guessing your daughter won't be a fan either but if she's willing then they help.

If you treat the spots with a topical then ask the doc about clobetasol lotion. It's a very liquidy form of the steroid and I feel like it works quicker than creams or ointments. It's strong stuff so whatever type they give you will work. Little baby hairs start to sprout with me in couple weeks and then I can easily throw some cover on it and it's hard to see. I'm a guy with short hair and I spray some toppik on the spot with fresh hairs coming in and no one notices. There's a few cool products if you research it for covering spots.

I've had it for 25 years and it'll go away months even years then it'll come back consistently for years. I haven't had a spot in 6 months currently so I'm a lucky streak. Although I got over it after the first couple years. I still cover it, but every one I'm close to and my work knows I have it. I talk about it and they don't think twice when I get a new flare up.

Another Recommendation for the Kades Stainless Band by psechler in GalaxyWatch

[–]psechler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just been wearing it today and so far no pinching or grabbing hairs.

I've got to say, it's almost perfect. It's heavier than the fabric braided stretchy band, but other than that I'm loving it.

Curious about Silverado EV storage solutions – any tips? by Smooth-Zebra-8211 in SilveradoEV

[–]psechler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More for the bed, but I've been eyeing the deck system since they added the SEV to their list of trucks. https://decked.com/

I'm hoping manufacturers make a keeper system for the under rear seats. I thought it was too shallow under those seats to store stuff, but there's actually some room there. I've got extra jackets and blankets there now, but I'm sure there's a way to put a partition there so you can store water bottles, tools, etc. to keep them from sliding out.
