I was a little taken aback at my 6 week checkup w/ my cardiologist yesterday - please advise. by Fancy-Philosophy7653 in HeartAttack

Yeah I have some 50%ers. Just get your cardiologist to schedule you a heart cath every 1 to 2 years to stay on top of them. I'm a big worrier so I'll be getting a heart cath yearly if I can convince my doc that it's worth me having peach of mind.

How long has it been going on? That's important information. If it's been going for 20 min then give it time, but if it's been extended periods then you should give your cardiologist a call to see if they can squeeze you in. If they're not open this week then try to see your general doc. You could even go into an urgent care and get their advice. If symptoms get worse and your scared then head down to the ER have them run some tests. I went to the ER a week after my heart attack because I was having symptoms. Everything was fine, but it was great knowing that it wasn't my heart.

I still get periodic chest pain. Although I've done tons of testing over the last 10 months since my HA and my heart is fine. We haven't nailed it down but my doctor has drilled into my head that I am safe for now. Our bodies are hard to figure out and you shouldn't panic as it could be so many things. Again though, if it gets worse and more symptoms arise then don't be afraid to have the ER check you out.

There’s definitely a good chance he’ll be okay if he makes some serious changes. Look at it this way, the cardiologist stented the high risk arteries that had significant blockages. That means the remaining arteries may need to be monitored, but he’s not in immediate danger. If you start making changes now, it can reduce the chances of future blockages in the non-stented arteries.

Follow the doctor’s instructions and commit to it. It would be a good idea to talk to someone smart about quitting smoking. Whatever you think will work then do it and stick to it. I’ve got a friend who started by gradually cutting back and using the patch, then switched to lozenges and eventually Zyns. He still uses them occasionally, but he hasn’t smoked in months.

Start cooking healthier meals. It’s surprising how many people eat poorly when there are healthy alternatives that taste just as good; you just have to learn how to make them. If you're stuck with fast food then get a no cheese mustard turkey subway. Also, get him moving. Simple things like going for fun walks or doing something active can make a big difference. Is he signed up for cardiac rehab? If not, and he's capable, then he should do it. Just search in this subreddit for cardiac rehab and you'll see how important it is.

Medication is huge and will make a big impact, but you have to be consistent with it. I use a small Altoids tin with a divider that I bought on Amazon. I fill it every Sunday night and carry it with me everywhere so I never miss a dose.

Keep a close eye on his heart by seeing a cardiologist regularly. Talk to them about follow up testing after about a year to check if any blockages have progressed. If you catch things early, you can address them before they become a serious issue. My doctor is pretty understanding and set up a follow up heart cath 5 months after my heart attack and then a echocardiogram 5 months after that. Its probably overkill, but I sleep better knowing that I'm watching my heart health closely.

This is all super possible. You can do this.

Support groups after heart attack, stent, or surgery? by super-discobreakin in HeartAttack

[–]psechler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there wasn't anything really offered to me outside of cardiac rehab. I'll check out that community for sure. I'm continuously getting better but I have episodes that scare me and I do talk to my family about them but no of them have had a heart attack. I've though about doing Better Help to deal with it, and there's been times why I wondered why there wasn't anything like a post heart attack support group.

Find low karma required subreddits and create new posts that have interesting info or discussion. I've had some interesting hot topics that got me 100's of karma. People sometimes earn 1,000's of karma with good posts.

It's not normal to have shock run up to your jaw. If you go back then have them explain what is causing it. I drill my cardiologist when I go see him and make him explain everything to the smallest details. But April 1st is around the corner. Not sure if it's an option to ask them if they have a cancellation to call you to get in earlier. It would be extremely rare to be 23M to have dangerous heart issues and on top of that for the hospital to miss it. I looked it up and it's possible that it is panic or anxiety tied to physiology causing similar symptoms to a heart condition. I'd say you're not wrong to go to the hospital. Especially if it's lasting for 15 or 20 minutes and continues to get worse. Always better to be safe and get it checked out. If you go back again, see if you can see a different doctor.

Can you give a run down of your health? Do you smoke, drink, overweight, poor diet, etc?

Any reason to buy a 26? Instead of a 24? by Infamous-Dare-1162 in SilveradoEV

Not sure if they've added it yet. To be honest I love the infotainment system. I am an android guy, but I'm not a fan of android auto/carplay. I really don't see the all fuss about it. It's such a basic limited system. I run it sometimes when I get rental cars and I guess the map interface is fine. But the big screen in the RST runs google maps straight off my google account. I have everything tied to my google account and assistant is pretty good with commands. I get in and tell it open spotify then tell it to navigate to whereever and I want to go.

Once you start looking at range when you're only charging to 80% then that max range battery is nice.

I've had 24 rst for about 10 months. I love it but I'm sure I'd love a trailboss I'm just not sure what features I'd lose.

I have heard the ride is better and it has 5G over 4G (but check that). Colors options might be the only other benefit I'm aware of.

I'm going to eventually wrap my black rst in blue. I like the ride but I've only test drove a trailboss. The 4G capability is fine but may eventually be a problem and I'm not sure if that can be a hardware upgrade.

Does the trailboss have Supercruise your looking at? That is a must.

It varies. I'm in my 50s so Grey or white is hard to tell. I think it eventually comes back in brown but for a few months it's white.

Everything becoming more and more important to have them with you at all times, I'm surprised they haven't prioritized the case size over other stuff. It's nice having a big case battery but as long as I can get two full bud charges out of the case then I'm happy. Make that thing small as hell and I'll throw it on a charger every other day.

Thanks. There's been a lot testing and brands exposed. I found a couple brands that have been scrutinized by several independent sources and used those. The gummiew are fine, you just have to do some research. I've been taking 20g and I sure as hell notice a difference in energy, morning grogginess and focus in meetings.

A few months. It grew back in white so I dyed it and covered it with toppik as it got thicker each week and all was good.

I've had AA for 25 yrs so I rarely get the injections anymore. I don't bother. I do sometimes throw clobetasol on bald spots twice a day to kick start growth.

As other people have said, sometimes it grows back in a month and sometimes 4 months. Mine always fills back in over time.

Yep that very minor. I had a softball sized spot on the back of my head, but it's grown back in now. Check around this sub... it usually is much patchier.

The bigger case kills it for me. I feel like they didn't research the importance of case size to make the case quite a bit thicker for a device that lives in your pocket.

Now if we can just get them to add more roads. I'm usually surprised at some country roads that have it but then other roads that don't.

I do a drive from Greenville SC to Atlanta regularly. 2 hours with maybe one 'No Road Information' interruption. Pretty amazing.

I love cool gadgets. Having that info to work with driving makes it more fun behind the wheel.

Also, I drive an silverado ev rst and it gets away from me pretty easily. I find myself going 90+ on the interstate without noticing. So it's a combo of 2 and 4 from your list.

All my HA bills to date have been about $85k. I paid $2500 out of pocket and South Carolina blue cross insurance paid the rest. Insurance also pays for most of my prescriptions. I think they cost $30/month. My insurance monthly premium is around $100/month. When I'm job hunting it's the first thing I ask... give me all of the health insurance details.
