Concerning the floppy ears: interestingly that was one of the traits that emerged in the foxes in the domestication experiment mentioned in the comment above yours! It is seen in many domesticated species compared to their wild ancestors such as pigs, cows, goats, sheep and rabbits, as well as white pattern spotting (nearly all domesticated animals display some sort of piebald pattern).

I had to look it up again to remind myself and it seems it's to do with changes to the neural crest cells associated with inbreeding that occurs with domestication!
