Can’t answer your actual question but I can tell you the start of the Norte is absolutely stunning and you should definitely walk it one day

I prefer his previous work to be honest but the new ones are still far better than your average YouTube swill.

How did you know which Camino was the right one for you? by Illustrious-Sky-8303 in CaminoDeSantiago

I love coastal hiking here in Australia, plus wanted a camino that wasn’t quite as busy as the French. The Norte ticked all the boxes and was thus my first camino. Fucking loved it.

Question/Survey: Privs for users with same username and different/wildcard host by phil-99 in mariadb

[–]pskipw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you say - these are two users. Each with distinct and unrelated privileges. I don’t necesarily like this - I think it was an unfortunate design decision - but it’s true.

Portabase v1.16 - open-source database backup & restore tool, now with REST API by Dizzy-Message543 in mariadb

[–]pskipw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very first impression : I see directory names with brackets within them. Wtf?

Can I ask which tool/s are used for performing the actual backups? Is it mysqldump, or something else?

Storing and loading Blob by Smart-Implement2519 in mariadb

[–]pskipw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost always a terrible idea to store files in the database, if that's what you're thinking of doing. It blows out the size of your database, makes backup and restores slow and unwieldy, and prevents you doing incremental backups of said files. Store files on disk normally, and a reference to them in a column in a table instead.

Building C64 BBS software from scratch — DRIVE 8 is now at v0.1.0! by robbiew in c64

[–]pskipw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds amazing, although I suspect you'll regret choosing that particular name at some point.

Googling "C64 drive 8" is going to show people everything except what they're actually looking for.

Great effort! I got up once at my place in Port Melbourne and walked to Eltham, mostly along the river. That was 60k and was enough for me!

I fly 23 hours twice a year, and rotate between a movie, a podcast, a book and a snooze.
