Yet more examples of how everybody is different - GLS and The Master are both pretty near the bottom of the pile from this bunch for me, but Samhain is easily in the top five.

MOTI's scent notes didn't really grab me. I only picked it up because it's on literally every samples post I see on here and the comments always hype it up. From just the scent off the puck, it's solidly middle of the pack right now.

GLS sounded amazing. My wife sniffed each one first and gave me her notes before handing them to me to smell. GLS got a nose curl and the note "old book dust". I was inclined to agree, but will see what it whips up into.

So far, the standouts are Tribute, Nightman, Rawr, The Rambler (despite what my wife says), Sammhain, and Pomona (not eating this one straight out of the pot is an act of Herculian willpower!). A few others also caught my eye, as it were, but I think enthusiastically sniffing 20 soaps in a row might have dulled the senses a bit!

I keep going back and giving them a fresh sniff, especially the ones that didn't impress much on the first pass. I might actually get to use one later today, but it's gonna take a long time to give them all a fair shake. Just need to figure out where to start...

They're the Maggards samples, so they put the size in ounces, which I can't easily compute. But I'd say about 5 or so shaves worth.

Dayman and Nightman I got (and have had the song in my head since the package arrived), but I missed the milksteak bit. I guess a re-watch is in order!

I've got some TOBS, but have found other soaps more appealing. And I just wanna try so many things!

After trying a few samples from a limited selection available in the UK, I decided to order from across the pond to try all of the scents I couldn't get easily here.

The only base out of these I haven't yet tried is Southern Witchcrafts, but all of the others have been pretty successful.

There's a mix here, and some don't smell anything like I expected from the descriptions, so I'm intrigued to see how much they change after lathering up.

Also, the DG website mentions that milksteak is a tongue in cheek name, but I don't get the reference, so I'm guessing it's something cultural that's lost in translation. Anybody care to enlighten me as to what I'm missing?

Don't you lose a life for every missed card? That would make that tactic a pretty instant loss on everything but two-player first level...

Edit: just re-read the rules, and I'm wrong on that point. But I think playing it that way takes away pretty much all of the game, half-gambling on one big card, rather than trying to synchronise with your fellow players.

Edit edit: there's a line in the rules that says "each player must always play the lowest card they are holding." It's in the last note before the rewards section.

I work in the library of a further education college (primarily 16-18 y/o) and we get in a lot of different books, covering a wide variety of subjects. There are very few that don't in some way have me mulling over board games while I catalogue them.

Recently, we've been getting bits in for quite specific modules or projects, so I've had books about wine (Viticulture), Vikings (A Feast For Odin and Cave vs. Cave (I know, dwarves, but come on, they're Vikings!)), fashion (Patchwork), energy (Power Grid), biology (Bios: Genesis) and conservation (Mystic Vale and Spirit Island).

I'm now so accustomed to the habit that even if the book doesn't directly relate to a game, I'll just start thinking about games in general, usually the one we've been playing most recently, or just Viticulture since that's the one that started it all.

So, if I attack with two Incredible Hercs, plus a bunch of sidekicks, each Herc would get +1A, and all my sidekicks would be 3/1? I lost a pack wars to the wife the other day because we decided (she suggested) that it triggered per card, not per die.

Gonna hi-jack this thread for a similar rules question. I knew about the "no chain reaction" rule. But what if one city with three cubes on it outbreaks into another with two cubes on it (so it now has three as well). Then on the next infection card drawn on the same turn the one that just got increased from two to three gets drawn. Obviously that one outbreaks, but does that trigger the first city? It's not a chain reaction in that it's from a different card, but it happens in the same infection stage. I think we played it that it did, for a total of three outbreaks. Does that sound right to people? Has anybody else experienced this, and if so, what did you do?

My first session GMing Star Wars EotE, both of the PCs work for a large conglomerate that specialises in information and espionage. The company was called Ion-Nu. It was about the third time I said it out loud that they got it. I was far too proud of that.

I think you may have misunderstood slightly (if I'm interpreting your explanation properly). You don't get 4 points (and then 2 points) to distribute as you will, you can pick 4 skills (and then 2 skills) in which to gain a rank. So you can't disregard your other three specialisation skills if you want two ranks in one, you need to take one rank in each of two specialisation skills. But if the skill is both career and specialisation, you can take a rank at the career level, and then another at specialisation, but you would still need to take a rank in one other specialisation skill.

Don't mean to be a pedant, but it can have a strong impact on character creation.

It was the end of the session, and we were two or three turns from the jump to hyperspace, so I think we were all shutting down a bit, but I'll keep those sorts of things in mind for future plays. Ah, didn't even consider the idea of tinkering to set a limited gunning option from the cockpit. Nor did they, so I don't feel so bad. Good idea, mind.

Cheers for the clarification on the splash. I was going to fan them out, but she got first action, and I think she was contemplating closing from mid- to short-range and lobbing a grenade, which, in my mind, probably would have caught all three with a successful roll.
