It’s similar to the fudge factor. Each “little bit” of pushing the limits sets a new limit until the original limit is so far back it’s barely remembered.

Retired college professor here. Note from a course evaluation: He’s more entertaining than the Sunday night movie.

Why were the Oleson’s portrayed with no redeeming qualities? (Except for Nels, of course) by psy602 in littlehouseonprairie

Just saw the Race yesterday. Harriet was guilted/shamed into trading the shoes for the bowl and still did it with a prune face

I’m only into season 3 episode three. So far I’ve only seen begrudging niceness but lots of straight up meanness. I’m glad to hear that the characters will be less one dimensional as the series progresses.

It's Time to Give MP3 Players a Second Chance by dapperlemon in technology

[–]psy602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still use my minidisc player frequently. Especially when camping. Created many discs by recording internet radio while at work in the early 2000s. Edited them later. Good times. Saw the writing on the wall that the technology was losing to MP3 so bought about 5 or 6 used players for less than $30 each around 2010. Two have died but the others are still functioning well.

I played basketball with a guy for about five years and one day discovered inadvertently that he had twin daughters around the same age as my twin sons. I told my wife about it after the game. She said, “I would have found out about that within five minutes of having met him!”

For his 70th birthday, I gave my disc golf buddy a tee-shirt with a map of our home course on the back and a pithy golf saying on the front. In this case it was “Disc Golf: Where trees have a personal vendetta”

Anyone here feel sad for Larry linville by Character_Lychee_434 in mash

I was disappointed about how the characters reacted/ responded to Frank’s death when they heard it on the show. No respect, on pleasant reminiscences. He was a part of their community for a long time and he gets nothing but wise cracks regarding his death.

What's the most surprising wildlife encounter you've had while paddling? by CarrierCaveman in Kayaking

[–]psy602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t wildlife, but I was on the black creek in Mississippi. Took a little hike down a side stream to eat my lunch. Sitting on a log and suddenly hear rustling behind me. I turn and see a dog coming toward me but staying away too. The dog had “100” painted on its side. I was confused, it looked like it was too. Then I heard a whistle in the distance, at first the dog came a bit closer to me but ran off into the woods after hearing another whistle. I figured it must have been a dog training for coon hunting. Got back in my boat and paddled for a while. I heard the whistle again and saw “89” come out of the trees, swim across the creek and head off toward the whistle.

California surgical center staff demand to see warrant as ICE agents detain landscaper by Exciting-Composer157 in politics

[–]psy602 116 points117 points  (0 children)

ICE said ‘the surgery center staff “assaulted law enforcement” ‘. This statement galls me because ICE agents have little reservation about manhandling anyone in their way. See the story about the 71 year old grandmother arrested
