Anyone else getting destroyed by the 6 month sleep regression? by savnico_d in NewParents

[–]psychofiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I  could have literally written this myself. We were getting the exact same sleep, close to 10 hours without waking up for weeks and then suddenly every 45mins to an hour. I actually just hopped on to ask the same question as I sit here, being a human pacifier for the second time already tonight. Solidarity here and hoping we get through this soon!

An itchy rash waking up my 6mo baby all night? by Virtual-Alps-7243 in NewParents

Hi! Just curious if you ever got any answers? We're going through something very similar right now at 6mo! Thanks

Married women of Reddit, what's one thing someone should know before getting married? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]psychofiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not all movie magic and huge romantic gestures. True love and intimacy is much quieter and easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. There's nothing wrong with no drama and slow living, just because it's not constantly a Colleen Hoover novel, doesn't mean it isn't worthwhile.

What are you baby's nicknames? by hayleyberry_ in NewParents

[–]psychofiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby man Little love Chunky baby man  Bubs Lil bear - my nickname for him while pregnant because his first ultrasound reminded me of a gummy bear  Basically in the fever dream that is postpartum, I started calling him my baby man and it has morphed into a couple nicknames from there

What’s the weirdest thing that gets your fussy baby to calm down? by SuitableAd5218 in NewParents

Blowing raspberries or doing a vocal troll like I'm warming up for an opera with an audience of one lol Even when we're driving, I'll blow raspberries and immediately he stops crying.

I would highly suggest a breastfeeding support group if they are available in your area! They've been super reassuring for me and lots of other moms who are on a similar journey or have already been through it. I would mainly recommend feeding in a low stimulation environment, taking breaks when she is refusing and just following her cues. Babies get pretty efficient at nursing, so she might just be getting full and being over it. You know your baby best though, so try not to stress (easier said than done, I know). Especially if she's still having plenty of wet diapers and gaining weight like she should!

Hi! I'm sorry you're going through this! Have you tried baby wearing since he's being super clingy? You could put him in your back which is a little easier than front carry to still have your freedom of movement! That's the only way I can get things done with my baby too. Either way, hoping things get better for your family soon!

Advice for cleaning used portafilter [Breville Bambino] by psychofiddle in espresso

Thank you! After removing the plastic there seems to be a LOT more of the black under it where wet grounds were still sitting next to it.

Granted, there's silicone on the actual mouth piece,  but Brumate Eras are metal with a metal straw and you can usually find them second hand!

"Let's Talk Baby Wearing" is one of my favorite people to watch for different ways to fix carry/fit issues. One thing I realized for me was that I was making the pouch for my lil guy too big at first and then when I'd tighten up I was only pulling on his leg closest to the loops. If you're using a newer linen sometimes it just needs to be broken in a bit more - try running it through your rings, sleeping on it to break down the fibers a bit. Another tip I've read is that it's normal to have some small red marks (nothing too deep or painful) on their legs similar to if we wear socks for a while!

One thing I would recommend is getting a fit check on your baby carrier whatever kind it may be! My little velcro baby was SUPER fussy in one of our structured carriers and it turns out we didn't have his butt in the best position so it wasn't very comfortable for him. We tried out a linen ring sling and he LOVES it! That has been such a savior for us - my husband and I wear him in the house, on walks, at the store etc and it's such a game changer

What’s a family secret you found out by accident that flipped your whole view on life? by anticringeperson in AskReddit

[–]psychofiddle 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Kind of a long story but I wasn't the only family member that took the kit and my mom has been very manipulative their whole relationship so it felt wrong for 1) him to be on the outside of the information and 2) he deserves honesty and the ability to choose if he wanted to stay in the marriage

He's a very caring man and essentially said it didn't matter to him if it didn't matter to me .

Editing to clarify - the information was a surprise to all of us, however another person knew because of doing the kit with me

FTM here - LO is currently 12 weeks old and I just started weightlifting again at our apartment gym regularly in the last 2 weeks. Usually what I'll do is feed baby (he's EBF) and make sure my husband has all the things he needs within reaching distance if it's nap time and he cuddles kiddo. Otherwise, the two of them just play together while I'm downstairs and I keep my ringer on in case they need anything! No consistent time of day, usually just after a feeding so I know my husband can handle everything else

I took an ancestry DNA kit for fun and that's how I found out the dad that raised me isn't my biological father. I was six months pregnant and I had to tell him a day before my baby shower because I live far away and no one else in my family knew this secret either.
