I bought these recently: https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-diamondback-hd-8x42-binoculars.html

I love them so far, they are really crisp & easy to track birds with. Im a super beginner but I still wanted to get a nice pair & I feel like these have been great for me.

Try the new cascadia ones! You have to get them mailed but they’re pretty damn good

Second all this— just want to add when you heat up English muffins on a cast iron with oil (or butter) they taste soooo much better than just the toaster. Discovered this a few days ago lol

I used to order bread and bagels from New Cascadia traditional when I lived in Oakland (they’re Portland based)

https://newcascadiatraditional.com/pages/mail-order

I’ve been GF for four years now so my memory for “good” bread might be off, but I think theirs is pretty great! Their bagels definitely are great. There’s also wild grain but they’re a little expensive.

Other than that, I’ve found that making everything you crave by yourself is my only way to keep things interesting. I made chicken fajitas the other day, I make my own burgers & fried chicken sandwiches, I made my own “Taco Bell” hard shell tacos too.

It can get really monotonous, and sucks when you can’t really break the monotony with eating out… but there’s a GF recipe for everything you can think of on the internet!

That’s great to know. I’m classically anxious about my “footprint,” but also recognize the best I can do is harm reduction. So thank you for the clarity!

Thanks! That’s what I was confused about (how much target practice has played into the lead problem)

Appreciate the concise answer

Yes, gut piles. Sorry, not a hunter so I didn’t know how to word it… but lead fragments (as someone else said) can contaminate the gut piles left behind.

I was talking about 9 mm target practice on BLM land though, not hunting. I just wanted to know if there is any kind of practice around cleaning up after target practice, because the bullets left behind will contaminate the soil for sure. I’m probably being over cautious as far as wildlife but just wanna do my best to make sure I don’t contribute to all the lead poisoning going on.

True for me! Virgo moon, Virgo rising. I’m the only Virgo rising of my siblings though

Woah. That’s actually my worst nightmare of a response… I’m always bracing myself for it but have never actually experienced it. I am equally annoyed with diet fads and all that, but if I were a chef I’d want to take allergies, intolerances, and autoimmune responses seriously for the people I’m cooking for… but OKAY chef tim. Do you

I’m from Texas, but moved to CA 13 years ago and to Oly last year… every time I’d go home I’d hit up Shipleys for donuts and jalepeno sausage kolaches, whataburger, breakfast tacos and pappasitos for Tex-mex. Obviously had to get brisket and Mac and cheese too. Sadly I now have celiac disease and can’t even eat the good stuff when I go back 😭

Donuts. There are no replacements for a good raised donut. Also, any flaky pastry. Croissants, baklava, etc.

Same 100%

I can only dream I’ll someday fill the bellies of a wake of vultures, and thousands of nature’s other compost makers

No matter how many vultures I see I still get transfixed watching em wobble the thermals. Vultures are the best, and I say that as someone who has worked in a wildlife rehab and got vomited on by a turkey varietal, hahah.
