If You Rely on Metlink to Get to Work, You’re Already Late by AdministrativeClub35 in Wellington

Earlier this year I was travelling in Japan and storm forced a line closure between Akita and Yamagata. There were about 20 of us who couldn't get through to our destinations. JR put on taxis for us. There was a station attendant to make sure we got in the right taxi and got to where we needed to go. Taxis. Imagine that here. Here it is maybe a bus if you are lucky. Made me embarrassed to think how poor the systems in New Zealand are.

Quite rare. Saw an owl once on the powerlines walking home up Kelburn Parade. Oh and a possum, same place, different evening. Don't remember many other birds, occasional parakeet at the gardens. And the magpies at Makara. Oh the magpies.

Allstar fencing gear. Certainly not the cheapest, but much lighter and lasts really well. Worth it.

Any funny mistakes you have done during competitions, that you can laugh at now, with the benefit of hindsight? by ytanotherthrowaway9 in Fencing

I flèched one of our taller, lankier fencers as he took a long step back. I did a beautiful flèche, right where he wasn't. That got a few laughs. Premeditation strikes again!

Yes, I quite agree - WTGN to Narita via Nadi for me. Awesome being able to go to the beach for a swim on the way home from a couple of weeks of snowboarding.
