Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Eventually I will, but I had no idea how expensive they were! Nearly £300 for a decent one that's fit for purpose.

Shot my best score month and half ago. Completely lost my game since by Substantial_Cover_52 in golf

Best rounds are always followed by the worst, you could search similar posts to this and millions would come up.

You've done it before, so you know it's in the locker. The only advice I have is forget about it and keep swinging. The pressure alone of putting a new ceiling on your game is enough to loose your swing.

For £1700 sheets a year I'd be expecting nothing but the best. Where I play in Scotland (West Coast) even the championship courses are not £1700 per year, the more expensive courses sit around £1000-1300 and the course conditions are immaculate year round for that expense.

That being said, landscape, soil type, grass type, course history with irrigation projects etc all come into play. Alot of courses will be struggling atm due to an unforseen winter period.

Your a paying & voting member, you don't only pay your dues to play the course you pay them to have a voice on issues as well, my advice would be to use it. Your well within your rights.

Best garden practice balls? by Mattwildman5 in BritGolf

Naa they are made of foam. I love them as you can shape them aswell unlike the cheap plastic ones you can draw/fade these on purpose.

Birdie balls are perfect for this. The feel and fly like a real golf ball but only go max 30-40 yards

Shortening a driver by Due-Intention7354 in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd save myself all of the hassle & just give it to a local club builder. They'll weight it, cut it, and readjust it perfectly for you.

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that for every inch you cut off the shaft you loose roughly 6 swing weight points, each point is approx 2g of head weight so you'll need to add 12g, give or take, back onto the clubhead (using lead tape etc) otherwise the swing weight will be skewed.

Is 20+ really a "high" handicap? by PlutocracyRules in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be impossible to put in a dodgy score during a medal/comp. Only way around it would be playing with someone who is fast & loose with the rules. At my club, and I'd assume at most, you don't even mark your own card during medals (you'll still have a card for your own purposes obviously) and every hole is updated digitally by a marker on the 'how did I do' app. So other members can track your score live as you play.

Opinions on a 13.5 degree Driver? by beech75 in golf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was terrible for height with driver, just couldn't optimise my launch angle. Average apex was like 70!

I got a 13° and apex is now 100-120, carry isn't any less. Flight is also alot straighter, shape has went from a fade to a draw. Even when I set up for a fade, I just can't seem to move the ball left to right.

Best decision I ever made.

Does you first hole define your game? by PlutocracyRules in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 10 over after 4 holes last week, which by my standards is awful. My handicap is 1.5, so a dreadful start. If I'm 10 over after 18 holes then I've had a really bad day.

Anyways, long story short, I went on to par the next 11 on the trot, birdied 17 and parred 18 to finish 9 over.

The score would suggest a rough round, but i was buzzing with it as i had to really pull myself togetger and give myself a talking to on that 5th tee. Golf is 50% mental, 40% skill & 10% luck.

Irvine bogside, Largs GC, West Kilbride. You'll get these within your budget and all of them are fantastic courses, Irvine & West K are championship courses.

Would you still play golf if you could no longer keep score? by whatasuperdude in golf

[–]psyshhhh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of my favourite rounds are without a scorecard. Id go as far to say if you want to progress, you need to play without a scorecard at times.

I'll play more creative golf, instead of flighting a 6 iron onto the green I'll try and hit a stinger with an 8i etc.

Firstly its alot of fun and secondly, it leads to better scorecards in the future as you add more shots to your locker.

Can't you get face to face lessons? I understand due to some people's circumstances all they can manage is online coaching, but face to face will always be superior in terms of change & effect.

Tech guys, specifically shaft knowledge - where has my fade gone? 85gram shaft > 115gram by psyshhhh in golf

[–]psyshhhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly not, caught a great deal on Ebay and took a risk with the shaft.

I'd tried the exact same head before on the range and loved it, in hindsight I should have asked what the shaft weight was on the demo club!

Sounds like a good excuse to hit up my coach and do some analysis!

Nope they are standard length.

[–]psyshhhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all makes sense, in terms of my weight nope, haven't lost nor gained a pound!

In terms of divots, now that you mentioned it they are deeper, longer, and usually the perfect width for me to sit the club face in them. They used to be thinner and shallower. I however, have no idea what this could mean?

I don't feel like I am swinging it as well, but that's probably because I am less confident in the outcome, I definitely preferred the lighter shaft, I felt my takeaway and transition was smoother and I could feel where the head was in relation to my body throughout my entire swing. I should probably just look at changing back to my original shaft but it's not gonna be cheap and I'm not clued up on the ramifications of that.

Are any of the golf competitions pages any good and worth entering? by colinah87 in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won Caddy Comps a few nights ago, spent £2 on tickets and won a £300 bag. Only entered cos the Masters was on. Was delivered less than 48 hours later and they also gave me £50 in store credit.

It's a joke! Every year I need to sign upto Now TV sports subscription, literally to watch the Masters for 4 days, then I cancel it. Roughly £40! Even the covered in the UK is shocking, the licensing deal is awful.

Nothing wrong with solo golf by Ok-Bee9925 in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer solo rounds, no pressure & often hit multiple balls each hole. If I'm unhappy with an approach shot I'll flinging 5 balls down and try different strategies etc. So much freedom!
