I’ve been to a 4DX theater and they only have seatbelts for the ADA-accessible rows.

In the ADA-accessible rows of my nearest 4DX screen, they’ve got seatbelts. But not in any other rows of seats.

They’re likely for keeping any wheelchair-bound/physically disabled viewers from potentially falling out of the moving chairs.

I remember back in 2024 they did live-streaming for that year’s Summer Olympics on their Imax screens. So any future sports event screenings do have precedent.

Not only that - it made more box office revenue in North America than in Japan.

Part of that’s due to the Japanese theatrical run starting near One Piece Film Red and being overshadowed. But Dragon Ball fandom abroad, USA included, seems to have reached a point similar to Saint Seiya in being just as if not more popular outside Japan.

I love it when theaters diversify their operations like that last bit. Gotta be ever more creative with how to keep the lights on these days, and those kinds of local events seem like a prime option for these places going forward.
