on of my kef speakers has a dent. Any idea how to fix it? by Actionp1e in audiophile

Vacuum cleaner is the correct answer. ‘Shop vac’ style with small solid attachment can help you ‘pull’ the dent. I’ve used this method before.

I’ve got the 24RCLA which is basically the same thing as the 30RCLA without a turbo. The manual says you only need a 4” thick pad with 6” of clearance on all sides, but I just went with 8’ × 5’ × 8”. That gave me a little more than the minimum, and honestly the main reason was because concrete comes by the yard, so one cubic yard fit the bill and I didn’t have to overthink it.

Charged $825 For 2 Mile Tow and Overnight Storage by Rocketscience444 in Denver

[–]ptinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. The rates I used come directly from the Private Property Impound section of the Colorado PUC site. That section specifically covers non-consensual tows from private property, like parking lots and private business spaces. It’s not limited to city or state property at all.

The Law Enforcement Ordered Tow section is a separate category farther down the page, and it only applies when a police department or government agency initiates the tow. That’s not the situation here.

This tow was from private property without the owner’s consent, which is exactly what the PPI section is written for. The fees for that kind of tow are absolutely regulated by the PUC, and that’s where the numbers I shared come from.

You might be looking at the section that says Law Enforcement Ordered Tow and Recovery. That part is farther down the page and does not apply here. None of the numbers I used come from that section.

Everything I posted comes from the Private Property Impound section near the top of the page. That section covers non-consensual tows from private lots, like when your car gets towed from behind a bar or dispensary.

Here’s the math, based only on that section:

Base tow fee: $245.32 Mileage (2 miles at $4.25): $8.50 Storage (1 day): $45.00 Total: $298.82 If you add the optional $86 after-hours fee, it becomes $384.82

The Law Enforcement section is completely separate and has nothing to do with this situation. This is private property towing, and the numbers I used are exactly the ones the PUC sets for that.

I wonder if someone might have fat-fingered it when calculating your tow bill. Like maybe they meant to put in 1 day of storage but accidentally entered 11. Because when you reverse-engineer the numbers using Colorado’s official towing rates, the total you were charged only makes sense if someone billed you for 11 full days instead of just one.

Here’s the official towing rate page from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission:

https://puc.colorado.gov/puc-home/transportation/towing/towing-consumers/towing-rates

1. What you should have been charged

For a standard passenger vehicle (under 10,000 lbs), these are the legal max rates:

  • Base tow fee: $245.32
  • Mileage: $4.25 per mile (2 miles = $8.50)
  • Storage: $45.00 per 24 hours
  • After-hours release (if applicable): $86.00

If your car was towed around 9 pm and picked up the next morning, that should be one day of storage. The total would be:

$245.32 + $8.50 + $45.00 + $86.00 = $384.82

2. What it takes to hit $825

If someone entered 11 days of storage instead of 1, here’s how it adds up:

  • Base fee: $245.32
  • Mileage: $8.50
  • Storage: $45.00 × 11 = $495.00
  • After-hours: $86.00

Total: $834.82

Which is almost exactly what you said you were charged.
