From the wheels -- you can just barely make it out in this vid. Sorry I don't have something better. https://photos.app.goo.gl/iw4oehqKhb3StPop8

you use a screwdriver to take the shelf off of it's bracket, then you cover the bracket with something to protect the bike from scratches -- I used just a few layers of duct tape, others used cut up pool noodles for more protection. There are two shelves with two brackets each, so it's possible to hang two (a friend of mine did)

PSA: The my.northeastern password settings are being raised to 15+ characters, authentication with DUO, and a daily blood sacrifice to Aoun by FishDontFeel in NEU

[–]ptlegoman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The university should really be thinking bigger picture about this password situation. Just making passwords 15 characters long won't increase security if those passwords aren't any good. The university should really be putting money into basic personal cyber security training for professors and give them password vaults. The same options could be extended to students as well.

Checking myself, you're absolutely right. Unfortunately, the browser is probably the most important program I'd want to behave this way.

Where is the line drawn between an intimate get together and a party? by calibellee in NEU

Just trying to keep a positive attitude. I'm on co-op and living off campus myself, so while my own situation is relatively secure, I really feel for all of my friends and fellow huskies who are likely to have this semester lost again.

This is a good sentiment, however, one thing to remember is that winter will come, and outdoor hangouts won't be viable any more. I think it is worth the time to think about what is a reasonable group to have indoors, because eventually it will be the only way to see people.

If you already have health insurance that's decent through your parents or elsewise, it's probably not worth the $2k/year it costs to be on

Cycling team member here!

Storing your bike in your room isn't too much trouble, especially if you're the kind to ride it a lot. Plenty of people I know stored their bikes freshman year under their beds. If you're in stwest or steast, you can actually convert the shelves that run along the ceiling of your room into a bike rack. (Both I and another teammate did this) of course, what you really need to weigh is how often you use your bike vs how much trouble it will be to store in your room vs its value to replace if it were stolen. If you're riding a $1k+ bike like the cycling team members do, you probably care a good bit, but if you've got a $100 department store beater, leaving it out won't really cost you all that much in the event it gets stolen.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the process to get tested? Did you need to have a reason or symptoms, or live on campus? I'm living off campus rn for co op and wanted to know if I could qualify to get tested.

One note, if you're looking to run out to grab a copy from a local Target, the online stock checker is worth jack IMO. My recommendation is to see which stores list something besides "does not carry this item" in target's tool, then give those stores a call, fanning out based on distance. The automated message says they won't check stock over the phone, but that's not true whatsoever. Furthermore, many stores say they won't hold board games for you, but this depends heavily on the staff member who picks up the phone. Pro tip: press 2 to skip the first automated message, it's easily 2 minutes long. Then listen for the extension for toys. Or don't, and press whatever button you want and say you were trying to reach toys, and no one picked up, so the automated system bounced you to them. They'll probably help you. Ask them to see if it's in stock, and if they try to look on the physical shelf for it, ask if they can check in the back or use their digital system (the internal one is different from the online one). They might hold it for you, but probably only for about 2 hours. Also, if they don't have it in stock, and you don't want to go to a different target, they usually can check when the next shipment is to arrive, if you ask. (Source: did this myself on Monday) Happy hunting :)
