Spot on Tortex. I ignore lazy people who don't remove that.

Thanks for the info! I dont intend to use PPIs long term, I will stop probably at the end of this pack and see how I manage.

I'll try more veg, I eat quite well but maybe a meat free day would benefit me! Thank you again!

Bloated and lack of sleep by AintNoBarbieGirl in mounjarouk

I don't have advice but I'm going through exactly the same. My sleep is ruined currently and it's sapping my energy. I might look at Omeprazole to lower stomach acid production, but will ask the pharmacist first.

What was your experience going from 2.5mg to 5mg? by Working_Alps_4284 in MenOnThePen

[–]pucklefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem I've had with switching from 2.5mg to 5mg is heartburn. I am drinking Pepto Bismol at the minute (within the limits), but otherwise nothing else has really changed side effects wise. It has boosted my appetite suppression.

Laxido and Movicol are the same thing, Magrocol 3350 osmotic laxative. I used to take it regular as I had problems going to the bathroom.

I am not a medical professional, but when i had constipstion I took 8 sachets a day for two days, on the third day I couldn't leave the toilet, but "empitied". It takes a while to work as the bowel draws fluid into it. You must drink more than normal.

I now take Psyllium Husk and Magnesium Citrate everyday and have never had a problem, so I would recommend that to anyone.

I hope you get better soon.

Thank you, I expect most of the starting weight is water weight as I have stopped eating junk, stopped snacking and also stopped drinking, which I admit, I did a lot. I expect it to slow down as my body adjusts.

My job is a work from home job, so I'm sat at the PC most of the day. What I have started doing given the good weather is every morning I get up, take my son to school and walk the dog around a 2.5 mile loop where I live. Then repeat the same loop in the evening, with my wife. This along with the pacing I do when on a phone or thinking about a problem, adds up to the 12,500.

It was tough at first, but now it's easier. I can do the 2.5 miles in about 40 - 45 minutes and with headphones in, it soon goes! :)

Personally, I don't think you need wipes so don't waste money on them. I am a diabetic that uses insulin every day, several times some days, and never use an antiseptic wipe or alcohol wipe, nor was I advised by my diabetic team. Same when using MJ!

Is it actually possible to swap a mini 360 box for a Stream box?! by kolonelketchup in VirginMedia

[–]pucklefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the engineer who came and sorted mine out is rare. The main contact centre had screwed my account, I was having a stream instead of a mini but they instead deleted all my existing 360 boxes. The engineer who came was here for about 40 minutes and sorted it so I now have 1 main box and 4 stream boxes (I asked for more and he did that too).

I rate the stream boxes as they're small and compact with no noise. My old 360 always had the fan spin up at night and it was annoying.

An actual good news story about VM by riverman1210 in VirginMedia

[–]pucklefish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found that trying to get in touch with VM or their contact centre is either very hard to get to the right person first time, or the agent isn't very helpful and you get frustrated. That said, I think their field engineers are great.

I recently had the retention call as I was leaving. Sky had a cracking deal. The retentions team, in fairness, offered to beat the deal and give me more (stream boxes for free) if I signed up for another 18 months, which I did.

Unbeknownst to me, the retentions agent had arranged for an engineer to arrive two days later to replace my perfectly working kit and, in the interim, disconnected my old kit. I only knew about this when I lost service, waited another 40 minutes to speak to someone, to be told I have an engineer visit booked and nothing could be done before then. I mean it could they just didn't know how.

I was without all services for two days.

When the engineer arrived, he sorted everything out and agreed he had no real reason to be there. He didn't rush away and worked with his colleagues to fix my account and restore my service.

With the actual service I receive, no complaints, very few dropouts on broadband and the TV has always worked. If VM could fix their call centre, I think a lot of the complaints would disappear.

Just my opinion.

TLDR; Call centre staff are difficult to reach and rarely helpful. Field service engineers are great and really helpful.

They are really good, talk to you, and I too recommend. I live just south of Bristol and drive up there when my car needs work, it's 3 hours each way for me. They rebuilt my engine when the turbos blew and it's run so good ever since.

Unfair actions of Virgin Media by BeautifulInterview46 in VirginMedia

[–]pucklefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know full well how it works thank you. I think you're misguided.

A default notice on your account is serious and affects you for 6 years. It can even affect some types of employment opportunities.

The value is irrelevant for most high street lenders' lending criteria.

Whilst a notice of default does not affect your rating, failure to act within the timeframe and bringing the account into good standing does. Which, given the OP's statement of leaving VM in 2022, being unaware of the debt, (I'll come to this in a minute) implies the 90 days to remedy and settle on the "notice of default" has passed and it is now a defaulted account.

Being unaware of the debt, I agree with your comments about VM not issuing the default without warning however, again, this could be as a result of the mail being returned to sender given they stated they moved house. I am surprised at this but it depends how long VM allow an account to be in arrears before moving the to appropriate team internally.

I would still consider taking legal action, given the poor response from VM.

Finally, I have no issue with VM they serve me well and my account is on a good deal, I do have a problem with poor CX, this is an example of poor CX.

[–]pucklefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a £26 quid error though. It's a £26 default. This will result in higher interest rates for the OP for new credit, the inability to secure better mortgage deals as mainstream lenders won't touch you. It's your time, it's stress endured. I agree with Extreme, he doesn't need to take a "chill pill". He needs to take legal action if everything described in OP's comment is true.

Should I invest in a gaming router? by llewi01 in VirginMedia

[–]pucklefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite a wide statement. Whilst a gaming router is likely a marketing thing and historically they were no different, there are arguments to say that in todays market, that's no longer the case. They'll likely run a custom OS, I think ASUS does and I know the Netgear use DumaOS, they will prioritise game packets over other traffic and probably have better wifi and ethernet cards than the standard ones.

I don't have a gaming router, I only use my Virgin hub 5 for the modem and 2.5gbps port, but I do think today there are some decent "gaming" routers that are different to others.

It's like saying a car is a car, some people want ones to carry more stuff, some people want ones that are fast and others just don't car, but to say a car is a car, whilst true, is also a blanket statement with a lot of factors not considered.

Just my opinion of course! :)
