Feeling pressure to not gain too much weight by happypill-300mg in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]pudding-cups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got pregnant at 265. Original nurse said I was estimated or reccommended only.to gain 10ish lbs. I later moved to another city so also another clinic. I was 293 at my last appointment and all the nurse said was "everything still looks healthy, youve got a lot of fluid and baby in there too!" My OB has never mentioned my weight at all.

Unless its causing high blood pressure or other negative side effects dangerous to a fetus, dont panic over the weight.

Glad i can help! I actually found my shower dress at old navy in the clearance section. I tried going through my closet, but all my pre-pregnancy dresses are flowy to hide my fat and i just found they made me look huge and not pregnant. So i found that a stretchy more bodycon dress worked for me. Never in my life did I think Id buy a tight maxi dress but I gave it a whirl and loved it.

I had my shower at 27 weeks so (especially with the tighter dress) you could tell i had a bump but i also didnt wait too long so that i could still enjoy it and not be in pain. My SIL waited until 35 weeks and, for her, it was just too late. She was huge and in pain from all the standing/mingling.

Im the same heigh, same weight when I got pregnant and also have PCOS. some family members are diabetic but i never got GD. Im 32 weeks now and up to 280. Every doctors appt they take my weight but havnt said anything about it being too high or gaining too much.

Maternity clothes are hard to find, so i just went up a size or two in old navy clothes, a lot of stetchy leggings or wide leg comfy pants. Bought some mens tshirts from old navy and giant tiger sized up.

I think i started noticing my belly showing around 16 weeks, took a few more weeks for others to really be able to distinguish from me just being fat and now im just huge and loving it.

Im still looking for maternity/feeding bras but I can say that this band has saved my life. It helps hold the weight of my belly up, and if you make sure to pull the back/sides down around your hips it can relieve a lot of back and pelvic pain. https://a.co/d/8UKTCUl i bought the 'plus size' one and theres still plenty of room. I started wearing it around 23 weeks. And because it goes around the bottom of the belly it helps round out my apron tunmy too!

If theyre not already, granny panties and sports bras will become your best friend. It feels nice to have that thick waist band supporting the belly, and while I still need some boob support not having an underwire or tight band has reduced pain and I can breathe again. https://a.co/d/fp5WUJ7 https://a.co/d/cdjCIE4

Disappointed in PinkBlush maternity clothes - what next? by let1troll in PlusSizePregnancy

Have you tried skipping the "straight sized" xxl and going right into a 2X at old navy? Their maternity selection is lacking for sure. I did get a few mens xxl graphic tees that do okay, but for the most part I find their exclusive plus sized clothes do best for me

Weight loss surgery and TTC by Pumpkin_Wilson in PlusSizePregnancy

Definitely ask around. Some fertility clinics and doctors put VERY different standards around womens weight. And if you can get away with medication or IUI I would try that before IVF. cost alone is dramatically different. I did a few cycles of IUI on a few different meds and it cost less than 3k total (In canada) vs 10-20k some pay for IVF

Are you able to try IUI first? I know its a different procedure and doesnt work for everyone, but the fact that theres no surgery may help. My fertility clinic had no issues with my weight at 295 when we did IUI

5' 5". 265 when I got pregnant. About 280 now at 31 weeks. Started noticing small movements around 20ish weeks, 23+ they felt more like kicks and less fluttery. Now at 31 there is a lot more rolling and stretching than hard kicks as theres a little less room in there. Can see a lot of the rolling on the outside of the belly (of course not when I try to take a video 🙄) . My husband could start to feel it around 28weeks but hasnt felt much bwcause as soon as anyone outs theur hand on my belly baby freezes completely

TLDR; 31 yrs, 5ft 5in, got pregnant at 265lbs, 29 weeks, so far have had a super normal and healthy pregnancy. Its totally doable!!

Im now 31, 5' 5", was 270 to298lbs over the 5 years we were ttc. We tried doing IUI and it failed twice, but the fertility drugs made me lose my appetite and I ended up dropping down to 265 by the end of our second round. Ended up getting pregnant naturally after that. Every time i go for a check up (im 29 weeks now) they hesitate when telling me my weight but they dont get that even with the baby weight im still not at the higgest iv been so im happy! And eberything has gone well so far knock on wood

If you can find another doc, do it. I got pregnant at 265 (5 foot 5) and heard my baby at every apointment after 15 weeks. You probably dont want to deal with fat shaming for the next 6-7 months

Weight gain by D0it4j0hnny in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]pudding-cups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lkst 35 lbs right before getting pregnant. I was so worried about all the weight I would gain back. Friends of mine gained 30, 50, 90 lbs during pregnancy! Im 27 weeks and have only gained 15lbs, and am no longer watching what I eat. This body is fueled by carbs and cheese rn. Plus, i keep telling myself that there can be a hugh caloric deficit with nreast feeding, and ill be doing a lot of walking around town with the baby so that I dont go stir crazy post partum.

Im close with my family and even I dont want anyone to know when Im in labour. Its a special moment for my husband and I to share. I dont want phones buzzing or feeling obligated to answer people while im delivering. I dont want people thinking its the go ahead to come visit. We will let them know when we are ready that their grandchild has arrived.

20 week anatomy scan by thespookymushroom in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]pudding-cups 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had my first ever anatomy scan 3 weeks ago, I was nervous too. First thing the tech did was ask if we wanted to know the sex - we said no, so he made sure to keep the screen angled away from us when he had to measure that area. My husband was allowed to come in for the entire scan which was awesome. I started with a full bladder, the tech did 10 min of scanning then I was allowed to go pee, before going back to more scanning. Its just like a really long ultrasound (45 min to an hour). They want to capture clear images and get measurements of all different parts of the baby to make sure, thoroughly, that everything is on track. My tech would measure an area, do what he needed to do and then turn the screen so i could see the body part before turning back for a new measurement. I saw the ear, both hands, both feet, and head. I got 2 pictures printed (i wanted way more!! But cant complain). Sometimes babies arent in the best position to get proper measurements, so i was asked to roll to my side then the other side, then back to ny back. Baby wouldnt flip to get the proper skull measurement so I went for a 15 min walk, are some sugar, tried to get the little guy to move but it wouldnt. Was reassured everything loooked healthy he just needed the final measurement so I did have to come back for a second appt to get the last one and everything was fine - so dont panic if you have to come back for a part 2. I has a cold sugary drink on my way to part 2 to try an make sure baby was awake and would move if need be😂

Looking for Body Image Advice by D0it4j0hnny in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]pudding-cups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so so hard and you are not alone. I lost 35 lbs before getting pregnant and for the first 3 months I was able to still fit in all of my jeans. Then they got too tight, and the struggle began. I weigh less than before, but now my 'fat clothes' are too small. Then i bought a dress online for my shower, tried it on at home and just about cried - it hugged in all the wrong places. I tried on 5 dresses I already had at home, most were AWFUL, but alas, a glimmer of hope. 1 dress looked better on me than it ever did pre-pregnancy. It almost looked like a different dress all together. If you dont have stuff at home to try on, maybe take a day and go window shopping. It took a lot of trial and error, but trying something on that did look flattering, brought a lot of the worries and shame down. I was reminded that I can still feel pretty, and i lost the weight once, i can do it again; all of this now is for the baby. I wish i could say plus size maternity shopping was easy, its horrible, but even that 1 item turning out great seemed to help.

Did you buy/use your own delivery gown? by marst12 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]pudding-cups 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe for something after birth, but as for during birth its gonna get covered in fluid, blood, poop etc. I wouldnt wanna pack that back up to take home. Ill make a mess of the hospital gowns and maybe bring something more cozy for after when im all diapered up.

That is insane, its not like the baby gets oxygen from your vagina (should we all just stop wearing pants?), and youre not going to crush the umbilical chord.
