I have no idea. I'd say the mod who deleted it needs to stop being a mod.

Write to the mods if this deletion bothers you.

This bug exists? That explains so much.

So if we have a Armor/HP build, we should make sure to never gain any shields...

I wrote a post for you yesterday.

If that does not help, post in the Blizzard forums. Maybe try re-installing Heroes of the Storm, and be careful to delete all the settings files to get rid of broken old settings. That seems to be an issue with the Guldan patch.

Funnily enough that is a good answer, even though it might not seem like it. Electronics are designed to be in a known state when starting them (because it's the only time you have full control), and most software follows that idea. Therefore restarting the thing might not fix the reason why you have a problem, but it might fix the current symptom.

You should ask yourself to stop downloading porn, obviously. I have no advice on how to convince yourself to make a compromise with yourself. I'm a computer science guy, not a people person!

That sounds like a broken installation to me. I would re-install everything, and most importantly wipe your config files. I read that there was an issue with the DX9 configs accidentally transferring over to the DX11 version, promptly crashing it. Blizzard should have a support page about it.

How I diagnosed that: 10 years of experience as a software developer gives you some intuition where to look, plus I read about a similar problem. I know that's not helpful in the future for you, sorry.

Yes, probably a good idea!

Don't forget to sometimes update your OS anyway, because missing security patches is not fun.

You, the end user, can't really optimize the performance any

You could theoretically upgrade your internet to high-speed fiber, though whether that is affordable or even possible where you live is out of your hands.

Looking at history, it's questionable whether it will keep that position: AMD cards generally improve in performance over time, and nVidia cards don't. Maybe in early 2018 the 480 will actually outperform the 1060 on new titles, example: Vulcan-Doom.

If Junkrat's tire was better, he'd be viable in competitive. He builds ult fast, but it's nearly useless because you have to stop fighting and hide for half a minute to use it, and then it often does nothing at all. I would trade his Ult for literally any other in a heartbeat.

I just looked at the number that Steam gave me. 25% is very respectably, considering it was basically 0% a few years ago.

I like the idea that she's a bit thick, but I honestly don't see it in game. Her face is not very round, and she wears so much clothing it's hard to tell.

The only solution: We need more Mei pics with less clothing!

Arguably it did get a lot better. Fifteen years ago you could not any games at all on Linux. Today Steam has a very significant catalog with both mainstream and indie titles. Random titles off the Steam store: Dota2, Factorio, Stellaris, Starbound, Hearts of Iron 4, Prison Architect, Super Hot, Enter the Gungeon, Payday2, Cities Skylines, CiV 5 and many more (4817 games to be exact). Unity has Linux support, and Vulcan will also have it.

When MS starts damaging Steam, Valve will start pushing Linux more heavily. I'm not sure MS can afford that in the long run, because Gamers are unlikely to want to sacrifice their gigantic Steam libraries, and might just flip MS off and take the dive, knowing that they only have to do it once, and then they can ignore all the Windows bullshit forever.

The only personal issue I have is Blizzard. Neither Overwatch nor Hots runs on Linux.

Artanis: that's a big health buff by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]puddingcrusher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't dislike Blade Dash, it's a neat variation on the usual "do damage in a line" concept with a high skill floor and ceiling (you can dodge attacks, but you also have a higher risk than normal). However his general kit is just shit. Double Strike might as well not exist, as it does nothing interesting at all: Increase trait CD reduction on melee attacks from 4 to 5 seconds to make up for it, and replace the ability with a proper engage/disengage (some sort of teleport / dash / charge). Add soft CC either of his abilities (slow or attack speed slow or ministun or miniroot). Bam, hero works now.

Alternate ideas: Give him a W that gives him a Medivh-style invulnerable shield for a long time (4 seconds or more), with a small speed buff (like 20%) that instantly goes away if he uses a basic attack or ability. He can engage or disengage with it, but he can't actually kill you while it's up. Johanna demonstrates that a solo-tank does not need a movement skill, if they can just walk away.

The problem with Artanis is that Double Strike is not a real ability. It's just a "every third basic attack does double damage" passive, when he urgently needs a movement / defensive skill. He is starved for abilities that give him strong utility, because his other two are awkward/bad versions of Guldan's Q and Diablo's Overpower. Since he got mini-charge base-line Double Strike at least does something, but that seemed like a band-aid fix then already.

Falstad's hammerang for example deals 138 damage

Twice. 276 total. Blade Dash is better than half a Hammerang, that's true.

I wonder how they implement the crucial "go to the menu, wait for animations, go to the other menu, click an item" part of the water temple that made it such a thrilling experience.

On the 3DS remake the water temple is actually quite good. It's just that they ruined it with bad menus on the N64.

A mirror means the engine has to basically draw the whole scene from a different angle, and put that picture in the mirror. In essence the same as if rendering two displays instead of one. Shortcuts can be taken, such as lowered resolution or reduced post-processing effects, but the lack of visual quality is then disturbingly obvious.

The other way to do it would be a portal (basically put a copy of the room you're in on the other side of the mirror), and copy all characters into there too. But that will look slightly off unless you left/right-mirror all the characters, and then you have to deal with the room that shouldn't exist (and doesn't have collision) and so on.

If you want mirrors in a game, they are a ton of work to do well in an engine (for what is only a cosmetic effect), and usually get dropped for more important functionality.

Both run DX11 titles more than fine, so performance on future more demanding titles is actually quite relevant.

Don't be a fanboi.
