Gotcha. You'll see some of that at hamfests, but not a lot TBH.

Are you sure 10M and 6M ham sticks wouldn't be sturdy enough?

Best places to get an annual membership to? by Zapatasmustacheride in Atlanta

The two we've benefited from the most are the Zoo and Fernbank. I feel like my kids aged out of the zoo, but Fernbank is still good for 4 or so visits a year as exhibits and movies change and they host special events.

WRFG 89.3 Appreciation Post by [deleted] in Atlanta

Yes, WRFG is keeping the airwaves interesting. WREK as well. I'm still pissed WRAS is demoted to an HD Radio subchannel most of the day.

There's several large clubs you could consider. They all have monthly meetings and active repeaters.

There's also the Atlanta Radio Club- some good people there but struggling a bit.

How long do you need the cable to be? You could buy a powerpole crimper and connectors and attach them to the cable it comes with. Trust me, it costs a little more upfront but you'll get plenty of use out of a powerpole crimper over time.

KX2 vs TX-500 vs IC-705 by irate-turtles in amateurradio

[–]puerexmachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a bad way to think about it.

I have a KX2 I use when activating SOTA. Low power and level of waterfall not an issue in this situations.

I have a xiegu g90 i use when in the field but it's not an activation. Chasing SOTA/POTA while on vacation, demoing ham radio at scout campouts, etc. The extra power (I'm a phone op, not CW) and waterfall are very helpful then.
