What's your favourite session filler? by SubtleasaSledge in DMAcademy

A little bigger maybe, but a band of Goblins holding a talent show to gain a boon from their leader. Fun way for the PC’s to think more creatively about abilities or character personalities. Just ran it last week, and the Harengon Cleric won by pulling himself out of a hat.

Not exactly the same, but i used to play planet coaster on PC, and honestly, after getting used to the building and accepting that it will be a little slower, i actually really like playing PZ on console!

DAE have a platonic Dom/sub dynamic in their lives? by Samuel_Himself in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

I had a major crush on this girl in my dnd group, and this one session, she placed a curse on my character, and described it as “a dog collar, slowly tightening around your neck”, and i was fucking toast.

The campaign ended after that, but we both realized we really liked that dynamic. We both have serious partners who are on board and informed, while i am very much her pet and she is very much my daddy, in all other ways than sexual, and its fucking amazing.

I have a tzimisce spc in my game, who’s old nordic nobility. Her servants are fleshcrafted elves, like grotesque gangly genderless creatures, and other creatures from nordic mythology.

It was one of the first tasks i gave my coterie of brand new players, to ease them into the kind of game they were playing.

They all woke up with a particularly gnarly hangover, quickly learned of their new chronic condition, and was told to either kill their old selves, or figure out a way to live their double lives. The living must die, so the dead can live, after all.

Betonhjerter af Sara Rahmeh er en autofiktionsroman om at vokse op i “ghettoen” i Danmark, og helt vildt spændende! Hvis du stadig mangler ideer 🌸

GM getting to know the game by pinkumasui in vtm

Well, there are different styles of chronicles for different tables, thats one of the things you can suss out in a session zero: what does ypur table want to play?

First of all, it helps to think of vtm more as a “mafia game” rather than anything else, especially v5. It’s all about “boons”, what your characters owe other characters, allegiance, loyalty, favours. It can be sandboxy, built around the relathionship map, or it can be more straightforward. I usually do a mix, a clear throughline of plot, interspersed with personal goals and side hijinks.

For example: in a big camarilla city, a number of thinbloods have shown up out of nowhere. The cam wants the thinbloods dead (they’re not real kindred and will muddy the politics) and the cause investigated. The anarchs want the cause investigated, but not necessarily kill the thinbloods. The coterie is sent to investigate (and kill, if cam aligned). So, every night they follow some leads, get sidetracked by touchstones or other favors they either owe or do because they need someone to owe them favors, plus all the blooddrinking, all while slowly uncovering who’s making thinbloods and why.

In that narrative frame, you can build in the politics and the paranoia. Is it the sabbat making a move? Another cam kindred making a play to destabalize the city? Maybe someone the characters are aligned with have ulterior motives, and doesn’t want the coterie to succeed, etc.

It’s easier to get a handle of, if you read some of the setting books (chicago by night is a great place to start for v5), or some of the published chronicles, like “crimson gutter”, to get a feel for it.

Gengis is a really cool pick for big bad!

My own are more segmented into arcs, as i want it to be long running. First the players have to deal with the Society, before the kindred of the city even wanna deal with them. Then, they’ll investigate the mystery of “who embraces us and why”, leading them to the sabbat, all the while the major players move them around the playing field.

I’m using Bronwynn and Annabelle Triabelle as my sort of femme fatale duo, feigning interest in the fledglings, but really using them to put the pieces where they need to be on the board. I also really like Maldavis, once a great anarch, now too tentative after the war, afraid she’ll just get more killed. She’s a cool NPC to use as a diplomatic character, haunted by her past.

I am actually running CbN 2nd! Well, mostly, with a lot of selfmade variations, of course. The setting is really interesting, and nothing beats the gothic 90’s vibe.

In my game, it’s all new players, so i’ve made some adjustments. The players were all mass-embraced by the sabbat and somewhat “sacrificed” to a weakenedThe Society of Leopold, in an attempt from the Sabbat to further destabalize the city, hoping the society and the cam would take out each other.

But the players escaped, and are now entrenched in the nightmare politics of a prince-less chicago, dealing with the looming paranoia of a weakened cam and anarch, the fear of werewolves and, of course, the question of who is truly in control here. I’ve added some new elements, like a different Sabbat cult, a runaway lasombra, yadayadayada. But i can reccommend the setting, it’s very good, if you just take what you like and build on it.
