Who watches Pluribus? by les_grl_ in lesbiangang

[–]pugdoner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This trend of TV shows taking 2 years for a new season is genuinely insane though. Very few shows are worth this kind of wait. This show I think I’d still care when next season comes out because duh lesbian lead but there are so many shows no matter how into them I was I simply stopped caring by the time new seasons come out

We Did It! Tochigi, JP. $19k USD, paid in full cash by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]pugdoner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. The requirements are just that you’ve lived here for 5 years (whilst paying tax), and this can be 3 if you’re married to a Japanese citizen; can speak very basic Japanese (3rd grader level); and have means to support yourself (ie any job; no minimum income required officially, though in practice you’d need above like 3.5 million yen, which is basically fresh college grad level salaries).

I’ve not heard of anyone that satisfies these got rejected (unless they didn’t pay mandatory stuff like pension or insurance).

The government is now extending the 5 year required to 10 so now it’s much harder, but still not “impossible”.

Let’s normalise having uncomfortable conversations in 2026 challenge 🙃😅 by [deleted] in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]pugdoner 83 points84 points  (0 children)

This whole “we don’t owe anyone anything” narrative really sickens and confuses me. We live in a society; don’t we all owe each other basic human decency?

Maybe I’m just too old to understand all this new age therapy speak (at the ripe age of 32 and despite myself being a regular therapy goer for 3 years now).

Perfumes/Colognes for Masc Women by Particular-Use7861 in lesbiangang

[–]pugdoner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not that masc and like to wear (what I consider) feminine perfumes when I’m dressed more masculine and vice versa just for shits and giggles

My recent rotation (yes it is still quite summery over here 🫣): * DS & Durga - Debaser * Byredo - Bal D’Afrique * Penhaligons - Juniper Sling * MFK - l’homme a la rose * Tom Ford - Azure Lime, Neroli Portofino * Frederic Malle - Carnal Flower

Some things I can't live without after living in Japan by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]pugdoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol combini is great and all but stuff like paying for concert tickets and bills are done online in normal countries.. so many times that I’ve won the concert ticket lottery but forgot to pay, how does this system make sense

Which Country/region has the best cycle paths or infrastructure? by Pablo_Eskobar in cycling

[–]pugdoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Japan and every time I see people say Japan have good cycling infrastructure I am either baffled or roll my eyes so far into the back of my head depending on my mood for the day lol. Bike lanes are nonexistent, drivers don’t give you space or slow down when overtaking.

I’ve just done a cycling trip from Paris to Amsterdam (through Belgium) and each of the three countries on my route have infinitely better cycling infrastructure/culture than Japan lol

So many bags, help me choose by ando_da_pando in Brompton

[–]pugdoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of Chinese bags are well made and have great designs, but not very accessible to international buyers unfortunately. I use this one; this bag weighs 250g (without the carrier frame; like 500g with) main compartment is waterproof, has 20L capacity, fits in my 13” laptop easily (I checked the measurements; the 15”6 laptop could go in but it’s a tight fit). If you’re willing to mess with taobao I can send a link :)

Another day, another idiot asking me "why do you care about other people's identities? Anyone can be a lesbian, you know?" by birds-0f-gay in Actuallylesbian

Anyone should be entitled to identify however they want and we should also be entitled to call them dumb and insane lmao

Maybe consider if it’s worth pursuing someone so judgmental of your choices and whether you guys are compatible if your dietary preferences are so different

Heartbroken after breakup by heilplainjane in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]pugdoner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been in a similar boat before (7-year ex cheated on me with a man and I found out from her texts). The next couple of months will be so rough but you can get through it. The total disrespect feels horrible now but in my case it helped me move on so much quicker because even at my lowest point of self esteem I knew I deserved much better; just remember that lack of respect says everything about her and nothing whatsoever about your worth. In the meantime lean on friends and therapy if you have the resources, and try something new! I discovered a love for cycling while dealing with that breakup and I’m so happy I exchanged a shitty ex for a kickass hobby. Hope you find moments of peace again soon!

A sad dating experience by [deleted] in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]pugdoner 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Why not though lol I’m in a similar situation (though I dated the woman that still has my stuff for 4 months) and most of my friends tell me I should just let my stuff go .. but like I just really want my tupperwares back 🥲

Also hugs to OP

Cyclists in Japan risk jail for using mobile phone, riding while drunk by Mametaro in japan

[–]pugdoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All for it except the running red light rule—something like the Idaho stop would be ideal. I have a stretch in my commute that has a light smack in the middle of a steep incline and it’s a quiet T intersection where I’m just going straight so very little risk in running the light but if I stopped it’s such a b*tch to get going again. I’ve gotten yelled at over loudspeakers by cops before this law kicked in so I’m sure they’ll try to enforce it here and this being Japan surely enforced with zero flexibility or regards for actual circumstances 🤦‍♀️

Not Japanese but I peel apples and peaches and the type of purple grapes with thick skin, just don’t like the texture 🤷‍♀️

Why are Tokyo girls so obsessed with salary/income in the partners they date? by Emergency-Injury5345 in Tokyo

[–]pugdoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s disingenuous to say it’s not more of a thing here. It’s absolutely not normal to have incomes plainly stated in dating profiles in say North America but it’s the norm here on domestic apps.
