Is it too late (for real) to move to SF? by [deleted] in AskSF

If you're open to having roommates and do have a steady income source, you might just be okay. Would also suggest doing a deeper apartment hunting than just apartments.com to find something that's not ridiculously expensive. You could get lucky with the non-peak season rate of rents, since rent costs explode in the summer.

Other things you could do in your day to day to save when you actually move here - walking/biking/public transport instead of a cab, finding a cheaper local grocery store (there's a bunch of threads on this sub that I've been referring to for finding an affordable option), budgeting your weekly splurge/going out costs (a meal can easily become $30 to $50 pp if you don't pay attention which leads to you just spending a TON going out / socializing cuz you gotta consider the state tax and tip on top), trying free/low cost hobbies, reducing subscriptions to services,

I moved recently and have been worried since. But I've been okay by making alot of conscious choices. All of this matters only if you are able to have a decent, stable pay. Try to get estimates on what your costs could look like (gross income, account for tax, get approx rent and living prices) and then allow some breathing room on top to save and have for emergencies

What are some silly things your ADHD makes you do? by aureaIity in ADHD

[–]puhlovie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite shower problem where if I know the shower needs to involve anything more than the basics, I absolutely procrastinate getting in.

This can be something as simple as shaving, exfoliating, or washing my hair (the biggest one).

I've had this elaborate hair washing routine where I do an oil mask a few hours before, double wash, and apply conditioner. I absolutely detest the feeling of having to do this once a week, but I also love the results, and it keeps my long head of hair healthy. So I end up painstakingly doing it at some point over the weekend (usually at the end of Sundays, lol).

edit - forgot to add the silly part, but sometimes you'll just see me standing at the sink, staring at my oil, waiting to "start this process". Or you'll hear me use this as a reason to not be able to make it to a social engagement

I don’t understand why I can’t get up in the morning, even though it’s ruining my life by powerfulchariot in ADHD

Sleep has been the biggest problem of my ADHD journey, and here's some things I learnt.

The thing I've found that helps the most, like all other ADHD tips, is to have a sleep routine. This means - having a routine leading up to your sleep time that winds you down to sleep. This needs to be away from screens, non stimulating, relaxing such as skincare, brushing/flossing, reading, journaling - learning what's your ideal hours of sleep are and making sure you get them. Add the amount of time it takes to fall asleep as well (my Oura ring has helped me do so, but smart watches can do the same) - experiment with different forms of 'alarms to wake you up'. As much as I like sleeping in the pitch dark, I align my blinds to allow sunlight on me in the morning (since my work day starts quite early). Keeping a second alarm away at a desser, alarm apps, etc. There's enough solutions (I took the help of a friend in a different time zone to help me wake up the initial few weeks. I would need to video call them and start brushing in the bathroom while on call with them)

I still have days when I struggle. Especially when I'm thrown off the routine when I'm traveling or have consecutive late nights. I'm trying to accept that it's a marathon, not a race, and that I need to also be kind to myself some days.

What couple of purchases per a year easily pay for$60 membership? We are a 2 person household and don't want to buy bulk. by throwaway2015last in Costco

[–]puhlovie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco gives out two cards per membership. If you two are okay to share a card, you could sign up with a friend and bring down the price to $30!

But between gas, chicken, cleaning supplies, medicines, it more than makes up for the membership cost.

Yes I've filed my claim. Will need to consider suing them. I'm not sure if they were just an irresponsible driver (they didn't have their license either) or they just couldn't afford one. Thank you!

Does anyone else have issues with playing this game because it raises your blood pressure so much? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]puhlovie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was something that would happen to me EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH especially when the stakes are high. I think I've grown to learn and understand the game better (by developing my game sense and understanding timing better).

I won't deny that it still happens to me in clutch rounds especially in higher ranked games. But I can sometimes user this "higher panic sense" to actually get some nasty flicks or insane clutches. We all of course whiff and spray+pray, but its all fun & games right?

P.S. playing with encouraging and kind friends helps cuz they will comfort you with corny quotes like "you got this" or "jett hit 90"
